I like to read Ahab’s last speech aloud every so often as elocution practice. A couple things stand out: boy did English lose something by abandoning the you/thou distinction. And - as “one-note” as Ahab’s characterization is (but obsession is kinda…narrow!), it is very strongly & evocatively done

One of the more difficult parts of having a monotropic brain is the unevenness of expectations it can generate. People will see me blaze through certain tasks & expect me to be a correspondingly competent human in other respects, then get perplexed (or frustrated) when I need help with “the basics”

one of my favorite things is that if you look at Lego ads from 15 years ago they were still trying to market sets like this as for kids, and now they feature pictures of guys who have good accountancy jobs.

My FB & IG feeds are chock-full of black market ads for growth & it really puts me off even opening those apps while I’m at work or in social company. Stuff I’d expect using an onion browser going to sleepy questionable dark web sites - absolutely zero quality control
