Genuinely, I think the “justice is punishment” mindset is a big part of how we got to this place.

I should clarify I guess: Capitalists in this country specifically wanted Trump because he would harm Americans economically, to ensure they did not build class solidarity and take what is rightfully theirs. economic damage to you and your loved ones is intentional. It is punishment.

yup, last time a friend got pulled over for speeding, instead of panicking he told the cop he was going to be late for a card game event and then tried to explain the rules of the game to the cop, show him his deck and everything
