If a stranger wants to - in the privacy of their own head - speculate about what's in my pants and why it looks that way, that's fine. It's when that stranger involves *me* in the deal that I get annoyed. Like what you like, but unless I ask you specifically, don't tell me.

The news tells me things are bad and getting worse. My eyes tell me things are relatively okay right here and now. I don't know which to believe.

Here's what I want to know: *when* is it untenable? Like I'm fairly comfortable right now living in a blue city in a red state. I haven't been harassed much. I own a home. Am I just being naive? Should I have started making plans to leave the country already?
