Welcome everyone who's willing to reject what's happening. But we don't have to make space for cruelty, punishment, or exclusion.

🚨 NCA5 is now LIVE! 🚨

They took it down, but we've brought it back at: nca5.climate.us

Bookmark. 👏 this. 👏 page. 👏

Hey, as a librarian I need to tell you:

Our funding depends on usage.

So go ahead and check out that book even if you don't think you'll finish it. No one will know. Check out that DVD even though you might not like it. Get ambitious in your quest for knowledge.

This is the core of it. In the 20th century, verification happened inside institutions.
Now, it has to happen in us.
A short thread on what that shift really means, and why it has to start in schools. 🧵
Who should do the fact checks with millions and millions of fake news? The nature of social media itself is the problem. However it probably is impossible to get rid of every social network and revert debates to pre 2010-status.

Just started reading The Fifth Risk, & immediately a sentence leapt out at me as underlining what Blum says in the above article (and much more about this moment): "People who had never experienced a collapsed state were slow to appreciate a state that had not yet collapsed."

So: here we are.

See: Climate.
Normality bias - ‘the tendency to underestimate the likelihood or impact of a potential hazard, based on the belief that things will continue as they have in the past’ - is a very hard habit to break.

1. Nearly a century ago, Nazis burned trans books to usher in fascism.

Now, Trump is doing the same, digitally burning all records of transgender people and striking the community from records.

This must be seen for what it is: a move towards atrocity.
