Been away a bit. Wanted to get up to date. Has any evidence for the existence of anything supernatural come out over the past few weeks? Any reason to believe in anything we can't observe?

New Gallup data shows a historic shift: only 49% of Americans now say religion is important in their daily lives, down from 66% in 2015.

Fewer Americans identify with religion, fewer attend church, and more embrace secular values every year.

For two months, the U.S. government has been racial profiling as masked federal agents hunted for immigrants throughout Chicago. They’ve repeatedly snatched up U.S. citizens while traumatizing communities. “I felt like a piece of trash.” Here is our story www.chicagotribune.com/2025/11/15/l...

Telling children Hell exists is child abuse.
"my least woke opinion is---"

That's enough. We've had enough people indulging in the "thrill of a little conservatism", as a treat. Of considering reactionary thought to be a salacious and taboo in a world descending into reactionary mania.

Give me your MOST woke opinions. We're bringing it back.

It is often claimed that atheists, (which is just another term for people without religion) don't have anything uniting them beyond a lack of belief in supernatural things.

This is misguided. At the very least, they all face a movement that wants to force religion on them.

"Still, stepping back, any observer can see that the era of 'strict sep-
aration' between church and state is over."

One of the best parts of non-belief and #atheism is the ability to recognize that meaning does not excuse, the future is not written, and that therefore nothing is ever over.

The Supreme Court had three religious freedom cases last Term. With @richschragger.bsky.social and @nelsontebbe.bsky.social, our latest comments on them, extending our analysis of religious preferentialism under the First Amendment.

The Structure of Religious Preference - Harvard Law Review
A revolution has occurred in the law of religious freedom. At this point, the picture is reasonably clear. The Supreme Court has greatly expanded the scope of the Free Exercise Clause.

I like this piece a lot about Rosalind Franklin’s role in solving the structure of DNA. It really respects her as a full scientist - what she saw, what she didn’t appreciate, what could have been if she’d had true peers to support her, or had not died so young.

What Rosalind Franklin truly contributed to the discovery of DNA’s structure
Franklin was no victim in how the DNA double helix was solved. An overlooked letter and an unpublished news article, both written in 1953, reveal that she was an equal player.

On what apparently now needs to be an almost daily reminder, limitations to reproductive rights can only be justified through religion.

Strictly secular governance is necessary to protect these rights. With religion present in politics, these rights will always be threatened.

Limitations or incursions on reproductive rights or LGBT rights can only be justified through religious reasoning.

For example, Someone may claim to be an atheist, but if they profess anti-trans views, they have left atheism behind and the label doesn't fully apply to them any longer.

Once again, it must be pointed out that without religion, there is no justification to limit trans rights.

Any such limits are unquestionable violations of the first amendment.
