flock cameras are in nearly every city in the country now and Atlanta police were using them for immigration searches. this is the model -- once the surveillance grid exists it can be turned on anyone

The only reason someone should change their name (first and last) is because they found a better name that suits them! Marriage is no longer relevant to names. Also, abolish marriage (but like y'all aren't ready for THAT conversation)

The only reason someone should change their name (first and last) is because they found a better name that suits them! Marriage is no longer relevant to names. Also, abolish marriage (but like y'all aren't ready for THAT conversation)

My most woke opinion is that a lot of people are scared or confused by their own emotions, and a lot of political discourse is mired in voices who don’t believe you can be a deeply thinking and deeply feeling person at the same time. We all suffer from a lack of standard social emotional education.

I want to very gently say something, and I hope nobody will be mad: If somebody on the internet says something that is NOT about politics and NOT about how terrible everything is, it’s a kindness not to reflexively make a comment (in jest or not) that brings it back to those things.

My parents put all of us in private school (Christian day schools, not fancy, but still privileged) in elementary school precisely for this reason, the public schools had poor teaching methods for reading! I learned phonics and was always ahead

The biggest societal delusion is that abuse doesn't exist, soooo idk what's actually going to come of this. People will do anything but reckon with our fucked up familial power dynamics. The whole reason Trump is president is most people only trust abusers bc they think it will protect them

My answer is always the same, it's Tongues of Fire by Lee Smith. A few years ago, my friend Jessica and I asked our 6th grade writing teacher for the name of it, bc we couldn't remember. She was surprised by the impact it made on us (it's also not for 12 yr olds)

So the public radio show I was supposed to be a regular contributor to that got cancelled, re-branded the show's IG account to promote lifestyle/culture stories for the station and it is all just so gross!!! They announced a launch of a new culture show w a retired white dj, too. I'm so mad for them
