AOC puts her finger right on the core point, as usual: people understand strength, and they respect it. they understand weakness, and they disdain it. even if you lose, you gotta lose fighting.
AOC on the Dem strategy against the trans sports bill today, where they argued it would protect "predators," and ended up losing just 2 Trump-district Dems on it:

Folks are mostly missing the forest for the trees re: the recent Meta announcement. Specifically, the focus on the move from fact checking to community notes. There two different changes that are a much bigger deal that have received less focus. 🧵 1/11

You don't need to pay "taxes" to a "government", you just need to appropriately allocate resources and labor to resolve problems via some central coordinating institution that commands a monopoly on violence and answers to communal stakeholders.
You don’t need to pay taxes to clean your streets, parks, surroundings. You don’t need taxes to keep your neighborhood safe. You don’t need taxes to keep your neighbours from becoming unhoused or going hungry. These are all things well within your community’s power to address and resolve.

Look, I know this is a minor thing and probably not ill-intentioned, but can we please stop putting "crack" in recipe titles (e.g. "Crack Chicken", etc.)? I know you want to convey that this dish is very good and makes you want more or whatever, but c'mon. Crack is... not good.

Love receiving an 8 page email from a colleague that it takes 15 minutes just to figure out what the hell they're asking. Did these people not have that one English teacher who forced you to establish a thesis statement immediately or suffer their wrath? Just me?

Loved The Great Gatsby, Wuthering Heights, and for some reason Crime and Punishment. HATED The Red Badge of Courage (too much war) and not a big fan of The Scarlet Letter (themes were ok, but my god the pages and pages of flowery language)
US and UK friends, I'm curious: What books were part of your required reading for highschool literature class? Which of them do you remember loving, and which did you loathe?
