I've made it a personal goal to stop using the term "content" when referring to media made by artists. The word implies mass-produced filler and calling someone's hard work their "content" has started to feel kinda like an insult. Like human art made strictly for quick consumption
the enthusiasm for generative AI would not have been possible without prior decades of capitalist conditioning to view works of art as products, rather than acts of culture and shared human life
I think the fundamental gap here is that non-creative people think that creative people make things for the end product, when in fact it’s the act of creation and not the end point that makes it worthwhile.

I’d be able to work on art projects without the guilt and stress that I’m wasting time if it’s not immediately monetised. I’d have the freedom to play and experiment with different approaches and techniques and learn new skills! (And have proper days off to rest and recharge.)
Honest question: If everyone got Universal Basic Income, no strings attached, what would YOU do with it?
