Gutting and politicizing the FBI is a win-win for this administration. If we get attacked because we’re vulnerable, it’s just another opportunity to crack down on dissent and consolidate power.

NYT - Kash Patel's inexperience, his dismissals of top FBI officials and his shift of resources from thwarting spies and terrorism have heightened concerns among the other Five Eyes nations that the bureau is adrift. www.nytimes.com/2025/11/10/wo...
F.B.I. Director Is Said to Have Made a Pledge to Head of MI5, Then Broken It
The episode has contributed to concerns among intelligence allies that Kash Patel, brash and partisan, is also unpredictable and even unreliable.

Wish we could take solace in thinking, "Wow, they must have some seriously-shadily obtained dirt on those 8 D Senators..."

But no, it seems infinitely more likely that Occam's razor is applicable in the most depressing of ways.

What's the inverse of Mr. Smith goes to Washington?

Chuck Schumer? 🤮

I know this is pedantic, but Kim Davis was not "jailed for refusing to issue same-sex marriage licenses." She was jailed for contempt of court because she refused to follow a court order (she had stopped issuing all marriage licenses). NYT makes it sound like the Woke Police broke down her door.

Please stop sending us the videos of extremely uninformed and misinformed folks crashing out over a Sheriff operation in WeHo weeks ago.

No, it wasn't ICE.

No, LE doesn't necessarily need a warrant to arrest someone lawfully.

Yes, it's 100% on ICE that everyone is so justifiably paranoid.

I understand why we shut down American airspace for a few days after 9-11 to avoid a repeat attack but imagine shutting down American airspace to avoid releasing the Epstein files.

57% of all ad spending by Republicans in the Virginia governors race was on anti trans ads. Just an incredibly mismanaged campaign. Anti-trans politics are a losing issue.

There are plenty of concrete good things that will happen because of winning these elections, but the intangible might even be bigger. Trump is going to issue a lot of illegal orders in the coming months and years. Nights like tonight might determine whether those orders get followed.

It's not in this article but the government asserts that the sandwich was thrown at "point blank range", which implies subway sandwiches have defined effective weapon ranges of varying lethality, and I would like to see the government's chart of these ranges.

I've given my new Senator a lot of shit on here. But I don't think anyone with power has laid out the stakes of what we're facing as clearly as she does right here.

And if she's saying this, it's because she feels she must.

In hindsight, it was probably a bad idea for voters to put the full force of the US state apparatus and military in the hands of a guy who bragged that he could shoot someone on Fifth Avenue and not lose any support, and who was also granted immunity by the Supreme Court before taking office.

We wanted to understand what a Zohran Mamdani administration would mean for New York. So we talked to a Kentucky woman who once tied for 5th place in a swim race with a transgender woman and got really mad that she didn't get to hold the trophy.

I know it’s too much to expect them to know their history, but if the American Revolution had a motto, it definitely would not have been “immigrants go home.”

It would have been “get your fucking soldiers out of our cities.”
America... boy, I dunno.

Today, Mike Johnson will keep the House adjourned for the 85th day out of the last 97.

12 days of work in over 3 months.

With full pay and benefits.

The senate has been working, so this is not about the shutdown.

It is about avoiding a vote to release the Epstein files.

the way Trump and his administration keep going on livestreams and tv to laugh about this, I can’t really compare it to anything political that comes to mind, only thing that comes to mind rn is a serial killer who writes letter taunting family of their victim.
Trump’s victims are now washing up in Trinidad:
“The U.S. campaign targeting what it says is drug trafficking from Venezuela has exposed Trinidad to the fallout: unidentified bodies with burn marks and missing limbs showing up in its territory.“

Many will continue to take solace in normalcy bias in an attempt to self-regulate.

Don't expect these folks to react well to attempts to apprise them of unpleasant reality.

PS: What makes you think Johnson intends to bring the house back into session... ever again?

Buckle up buttercups.
