Iran’s Reservoirs Dry Amid Worsening Drought 💧

Satellite timelapse (2020–2025) of Tabarak Dam shows severe water loss. Verified by precipitation and temperature data, it proves persistent drought, heat intensification, and mismanagement accelerating Iran’s alarming reservoir depletion. 🚰🚿

Huge dust storms in Pakistan, seen by the @esa.int / @ec.europa.eu Sentinel-2B and Sentinel-3B satellites on 4th November.
Neither satellite was designed to monitor dust plumes, so it's impressive how much information they give us about the detail and extent of these storms!

My last attempt on the Pleiades.
Easy to capture, not that easy to keep clean , in particular, collimation to get crisp star spikes.

Last night was the Perigeum (nearest point of the moon) & the largest full #moon of the year 2025; this also gave us a look at the lens of this sky camera. So in the picture it seems that we are being watched with a big camera from the sky.

They were meant to get to Halley today, but weather on the rest of their route is causing delays. Not a bad view to wait with though, eh?

Yesterday the satellite launched into orbit, and Meteosat-12's FCI instrument was ready to capture the moment from space.

The teams at ESA mission control will now spend around 10 hours carefully unfolding Copernicus's Sentinel-1D’s 12 m radar and two 10 m solar wings. The satellite’s unique deployment sequence was designed to ensure that these complex structures all deploy in the safest possible way.
