From a reddit post discussing ICE moving into Charlotte
I live in Chicago, here are some tips for dealing with the Black and Tans: Keep whistles on you to alert the neighborhood of ICE activities. Distribute whistles if you can. Post signage where people are taken, "ICE kidnapped someone here" is a powerful message. Stand firm in crosswalks or use your vehicle to obstruct ICE movement. Invite friends and family from rural areas to enjoy your cities, show them the only violence there is caused by the federal government. Post signage to alert your neighbor of the ICE activity. Record everything they do. Ask for warrants. They won't have one, but making them admit it is important. If they are on your private property, firmly tell them to leave. Sell them nothing and don't let them use restrooms. Protests. Protest. Protest. Every delay is a life saved. Remember, people aren't being deported, they are going missing.

Mind you, these have been peaceful protests.

Residents are not the agitators here. Our neighbors are being abducted and tortured "at random" and all we can do is peacefully protest and document the movements of the terror force in our city.

Whistles and video evidence makes them feel threatened.

Here in Broadview, outside Chicago, a large group of faith leaders & protesters have gathered this morning outside of ICE’s detention center.

This looks like one of the largest protests on Beach St. in weeks, where the city of Broadview is still enforcing a small “free speech” zone. It’s packed.

I think a lot, especially living where I do now, that Ruby Bridges (now 71) is younger than my mom.

Today I’m thinking about how she walked into William Frantz Elementary School when she was younger than my Small Niece is now.
The Problem We All Live With, a painting by Norman Rockwell. The central figure is Ruby Bridges, a six-year-old African-American girl, walking into school. I got a very moving Ask about avoiding defeatism on the forbidden website, and I wanted to share it because it's something I believe very strongly
a tumblr ask post. anonymous asked, If this isn't overstepping, do you have any advice for not falling into defeatism? You seem good at having hope for the future. Superdillin answered, It's NOT easy. The world doesn't make it easy. But take a look at someone you love. Or someone who brings you joy, whether you know them intimately or not. Would you want them to give up? At their lowest moment would you tell them there's no point, and that there's no chance that things get better? Likely not, but it's harder to turn that grace inward. To widen that same concept, make sure you are looking at the overwhelming amounts of people who are helping to make the world better. The food bank operators and the organizers and the caretakers and the volunteers. People who research under-funded illnesses and who vaccinate in their local neighborhoods. People who create art and share it with strangers to feel connection. People who make soup for their sick loved ones and who encourage them to achieve their dreams. None of those people deserve to be told that none of it is worth it. And the world would be worse if a single one of them gave up. And the world would be worse if you did, too.
