Hey @legaleagle.tv / @lizdye.bsky.social , just a heads up: it seems like there are maybe some weird editing errors after the 15 minute mark in the new Halligan video on Nebula.

What do you think the odds are that if they win, they'll pass the savings back to consumers to whom they passed on the price increases?

I was unprepared.
my favourite part of WICKED 2 was when they got to the song about Fucking and she pulled on the most enormous and thick sweater blanket you've ever seen

Not the main problem, but increasingly thinking we need a moratorium on the term "Artificial Intelligence" (both in full and as "AI") because it's clear it means at least three seriously different things and equivocation between those helps to enable this nonsense.
We could save soooo many lives but people are so caught up in their reactionary moral panic nonsense

Perfect Tom Stoppard story from DTel obituary:

His response to a letter from Harold Pinter canvassing support for a proposal to have the Comedy Theatre in London rechristened the Pinter Theatre, “Have you thought, instead, of changing your name to Harold Comedy?”

He was the kind of brilliant mind that you were amazed that you still shared a planet with, and I'm glad I did for so long.

RIP, thank you.
Oof. He was truly a master, from Rosenkrantz & Guildenstern to Arcadia to Leopoldstadt—just a lifetime of tremendous, thought-provoking, hilarious work. RIP. www.bbc.com/news/article...

Why publish this to support the claim that she was persecuted? This is objectively bad writing: no structure, no supporting evidence, arguing against claims not in the text (or at least not cited from the text).

This writing is bad for a high school freshmen. For a college junior, it's inexcusable.

one time my 50 year old father and my 18 year old cousin got into a screaming agrument at the thanksgiving table on whether cheesecake is a cake or a pie. The highlight of which was my cousin shouting "WELL WHAT ABOUT CRAB CAKES THEN" and my dad shouting "IT'S NEITHER. IT'S A FUCKING APPETIZER"

The best thing I learned from Macaulay Culkin at last night’s Home Alone screening is that his 4yo son loves the movie, thinks of himself as Kevin, and has no idea that that’s his dad. Culkin is attempting to hide that fact for as long as possible

You ever tell your children to watch something educational, only to have them cheerfully inform you 45 minutes later that you outweigh a baby elephant?

Knowledge is power, I guess...

I love that he's scare-quoting his middle name the way he used to with Obama, but dude's first name is Zohran, buddy.
Trump says he and New York City Mayor-Elect Zohran Mamdani will meet in the Oval Office on Friday.

One of the strangest aspects of aging that they don't warn you about is watching as history gets rewritten right in front of your face and people 20 years younger than you confidently tell you about something you lived through and get it completely wrong.

If you have a Dem senator and you're seeing this right now, CALL THEM RIGHT NOW and tell them NO. If you don't know anyone who would be affected by this, call them for my friend Lisa. She cannot afford insurance without ACA subsidies and without health insurance I'm terrified she will die.
! A key group of Senate Democrats is leaning toward voting for a deal to end the shutdown, provided final details can be worked out like worker protections (Gift link)

(Deal does NOT include an ACA extension.)

A Sharon Begley byline, almost 5 years after her death.

Upon hearing the news James Watson had died, a STAT reporter said in our Slack, "I wish I could read what Sharon would have written."

Incredible news: Sharon in fact did pre-write a Watson obit. And it is masterful and excoriating.

I will never forget the Toronto Blue Jays relief pitchers sharpie-ing Vesia’s number on their caps during games 6 and 7 of the World Series for as long as I live.

Just a simple act of love and solidarity and sportsmanship so desperately needed in these awful times. Class organization.
Dodgers reliever Alex Vesia and his wife Kayla announced that their newborn daughter, Sterling Sol, died on October 26th.

Please continue to keep this family in your thoughts. 💔

My mom just told me she got a CAPTCHA which asked her to answer, "what is 11+17?"

Folks, math is *the thing* The Machines are supposed to do better and faster than humans.

Congratulations, we've made computers bad at math so now we can ask humans to do simple math to prove they're not a computer.

Jesus. It strikes me that this law was almost certainly created to ensure snap users aren’t OVER-charged, now it’s being used to starve them.
The USDA sent an email to grocery stores telling them they are prohibited from offering special discounts to customers affected by the SNAP funding lapse.
I'm aware of at least 2 stores that had offered struggling customers a discount, then withdrew it after receiving this email
