Polite reminder that if googling medical science for five minutes doesn't make you a doctor, googling SAG-AFTRA's website doesn't make you an expert on labor struggles or even our current negotiation. Confused? Rephrase your statements to have a question mark at the end. Then ask someone who knows.

It really should be stressed that Genshin had the option to sign a simple “No AI” agreement - no involvement from any union, outside of any strike situation - and they said no.

*This* is crucial to realize when hearing any talking point about Hoyo or China providing AI protection.

They said no.
They've refused to sign a blanket "no AI" agreement put forth by the cast (before the strike, unrelated to any union stuff), it seems that they want the freedom to use AI, perhaps with consent and compensation. If that's the case, what luck! Because that's exactly what our interim agreement covers.

Someone replied to me just askin' questions suggesting that foreign actors wouldn't want to comply with SAG-Aftra's interim agreement because they'd have to pay American taxes.

If you're concerned about this, please consider that non-union jobs being recorded in America are still... in America.

I’d like to take time here to clear up some big common misconceptions about recording from outside the US for a SAG project.

As someone who has recorded a LOT of union sessions over the last few years entirely from Canada, I have knowledge that might be helpful for folks, so

International actors work on SAG-AFTRA productions all the time. They fall outside of SAG-AFTRA's jurisdiction, so they don't have to join, while still benefiting from the protections offered by a SAG-AFTRA contract. bsky.app/profile/calv...

Lots of misinfo about the strike flying around as usual, but one line of thinking really strikes me as worth calling out.

Many believe Supergiant would never use genAI for voice work. Me too - they seem nice!

But having to TRUST that someone will be nice is shaky ground for professional work.

My partner Marin is looking to get gender affirming surgeries and we're currently struggling a fair bit to get the funds

They have a ko-fi set up for any/all donations - we're currently needing about $6k to cover the procedures/downtime

Thank you for giving/sharing at all

why, exactly, are your games not subject to union contracts? that seems like information that is very important here

Is there a way you could explain what these "strongest AI protections in the industry for our talent" are or what the "variety of reasons" would be for not using SAG-AFTRA contracts for industry wide protection of VAs?

Absolutely love your games, but can't ignore the fluffy-nothing wording here.

For those unaware, SAG-AFTRA is entering it's 7th straight month of striking interactive projects for enforceable AI rights. SAG-AFTRA contracts are protected by their legal staff--I can't afford a lawyer without the union.

I am only working on projects signed to a SAG-AFTRA INTERIM AGREEMENT.
It's possible you may hear me get recast in a particular game that is very popular. If I am, it was not because I stepped away from the character willingly. :) It's because the employer refused to flip to an interim.

It has been 194 days since @sagaftra.org actors started striking video games. In that time, we have signed over 150 games to Interim agreements, proving that our demands are more than reasonable. But the bargaining partners still refuse to give us anything more than lip service. (cont'd)

Met a golden retriever while in line for a prescription at CVS and I think putting an emotional support golden retriever in every CVS would really make up for the despair of having to ask a guy to let the deodorant out of jail

When I had a violent stalker who would graphically describe how he would have me gang raped, puncture my organs and and break all my bones, I was told the police "couldn't do anything".

Consider this a reminder that they absolutely ✨can✨ do something.

They just don't care about YOU.
