Oh, sorry. I just realized one of your questions was about people NOT in the US joining SAG-AFTRA. This is Kit Harrison. He's an actor living and working in the UK. He joined SAG-AFTRA as a UK citizen in 2023.
So, yes. Non-American performers can also work SAG-AFTRA jobs and even join the union.

I am in the very rare position of being a UK-based actor who joined SAG-AFTRA in 2023.
I did this because it was and still is my dream to work on big SAG projects, and I support unions because I have a background in game dev, where the near-complete lack of unions means devs are exploited daily.

- If you ask a concept artist to mimic what genAI has created, you are still using AI-generated work, you have a literal artist who can create new ideas and asked them to use existing ones
- You are spineless if you defend its use because it's Your Fave using it

So many studios came to the UK to try to get around the strikes and found essentially an unregulated goldmine of actors who want work, will work for buttons, and might not know that working those games was damaging a strike effort overseas.

To quote some advice I recieved regarding this when I have been approached to audition for problematic works:
If you don't want your name to be spoken in the same breath as the thing, you should pass on it. And if you take the money, you take with it the consequences of how that looks.

Once again thinking about every actor trying to justify taking the money for the new HP series.

One thing with AI that I think is going to be a much more sinister issue going forwards is that currently a lot of what it makes is complete shit. But that will not always be the case, and I worry a lot of people won't mind then.
Even if the output is good, it should still be opposed.
