I've done this in an effort to AI-proof assignments (which is essentially impossible to do unless they are entirely in class and by hand). If you ask ChatGPT about anything you actually know about, you'll catch it committing what are often major errors right off the bat. But they'll sound smooth.
Yep. And I'd encourage folks who don't understand this to make a personal one-time exception to any "don't ever use AI for anything ever" policies they may have. Because if you actually push on this stuff, it's quite illuminating. (Quick thread.)

New — The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) was told this week by DOJ that they'd lose their funding if the org didn't remove any mentions of LGBTQIA+ issues from their public materials, I've learned. Staff were told they need to deadname trans kids in their reports to comply.

Wow! I received an email describing an "opportunity" to review textbook chapters constituting 75+ pages of close reading and note taking, not counting the table of contents (for what, copy editing?) and filling out a multiple page "survey" for each chapter.
