Working hypotheses: Orban, Fico, Le Pen, Wagenknect, Yanukovitch, Trump, etc, are Russian saboteurs, not just spies. Putin can only win his global war against democracy in the capitols of free societies. Political proxies are his main weapons. #NAFO

Called it: Trump is going to *give* China Taiwan (no, Taiwan is not his to give) in an attempt to reverse the damage of his stupid trade war.
“.. Japanese officials said the message was worrying: the president didn’t want friction over Taiwan to endanger a detente reached last month with Xi, which includes a promise to buy more agricultural products from American farmers ..”

A sad irony in Washington, D.C., where West Virginia National Guardsmen were shot today. Six days ago, a court ruled their deployment was illegal, but stayed the order pending appeal. My heart goes out to these public servants and their families. oag.dc.gov/sites/defaul...

There was so much clubby wagon-circling on the Hellsite back before it was the Nazi Bar in defense of 👇 stuff. "You're idiots who don't understand how journalism works." Etc.

No, we were right. Defending this stuff in journalism is just as bad as defending the elite male sex pest stuff in academia.
I remember during the first Trump term, one journalist was furious that I criticized individuals that sat on stories for their books. He basically called me dumb and naive. I hope he’s doing poorly now. Sigh
New — I wrote about the myriad ways journalism’s moral rot manifests, and how our crumbling institutions have created the conditions for it to fester:

You, oh Senate Republicans, have a Ukrainian flag in your profile name. That is noble but by itself merely symbolic.

What's your plan to undo the damage Trump has done to America's soft power generally and support for Ukraine specifically?
False.

Health insurance is unaffordable because Obamacare caused premiums to skyrocket.

Democrats have closed the government to protest a failure of their own making.

If Democrats want to discuss these failures, they need to open the government.

Oaths Of Office, And How Everyone Not Moving To Impeach Trump Is Violating Their Own
Until very recently the only member of Congress excused from not having moved to impeach Trump was Rep. Grijalva, because until someone swore her in there was nothing she could officially do. But for everyone else already sworn into this 119th Congress, there was no excuse. There is no excuse. The refusal to act, to even start to pound the drum on impeachment…

Once again, the Actual Democrats literally pushed out An Incumbent President in & nominated . It was unprecedented in 🇺🇸 history. The party that destroyed its credibility is the Other One that re-nominated the criminal fascist with dementia. Stop it

Democrats destroyed our credibility by propping up Joe Biden—and we won’t fix that by burying our heads in the sand…again.

And I don’t give a shit if you don’t think it’s helpful.

Again, no one is able to identify a single part of governance or policy that Joe Biden wasn't able to do while in office. This entire offensive National Conversation™️ needs to end & everyone needs to focus on the criminal fascism going on now, being committed by the other party & the other old man.
👇🎯💯 All of this. Not a single person or journalist is able to identify a single part of the actual <governing> & <policy> part of the job Biden wasn’t doing. And we never had this feeding frenzy for Reagan or Trump, both of whom weren’t able/willing to do the actual job during their terms. Enough.
I say all this to say, stop it. Biden was old, tired, not as sharp in language, recall or gait as two years before.

But he was doing the job and doing it well. Sadly he was not able to effectively do the Comms part of the job which requires vigor & charisma.

Now do a wellness check on Trump.

Look I don't want to say you're a rube if you fell for the "Biden's incompetent" trope but it was clearly a con coming almost exclusively from bad faith actors and had almost zero solid evidentiary basis.

One thing I have no patience for is "there is nothing to be thankful for" doomerism. If Americans were finding things to be thankful for in 1863, two and a half years into a bloody Civil War, when Abraham Lincoln formalized the Thanksgiving holiday, then I can find things to be thankful for too.

1) Shooting National Guard members is horrific and criminal.
2) So is putting National Guard members in harm’s way to score political points.

There is a reason why Witkoff did not want any officials with the State Dept or anyone else present during his many meetings w/Putin - he didn’t want witnesses to his treasonous behavior. Highly unusual, but makes perfect sense when you consider that he only cared about Russia.
