Chinese company UBTECH Robotics has assembled an army of humanoid robots for factory work.

They don’t need recharging - the humanoids are capable of changing their own batteries, making their presence in production almost independent of humans.

1/2 Hello lovely women who work in STEM-I have a favor. I'm working on my dissertation about women in STEM & their social media experiences. I'm trying to find women interested in being interviewed online via Zoom. I have an inclusive use of the term woman/female as I want to include everyone.

Former UVA president Jim Ryan, who resigned over the summer due to pressure from the Trump Administration, just shared this 12-page letter with the Faculty Senate, detailing his experience with the Board of Visitors and DOJ.

It's a surreal--and troubling--read.

Whaaaaaa…..? 🤦‍♀️
It really seems like this administration is trying to eliminate the field of public health. MPHs and DrPHs will no longer be considered "professional degrees" by the DOE and, therefore, will face limits to accessing federal student loans.

"What if one of YOUR favorite politicians/celebrities/etc is on the list?" Did you all not notice how quickly we dropped Neil Gaiman when we found out about the things he did? Do you know how beloved that guy used to be and how loathed he is now? I think that right there should answer your question.

Such claims are always BS. This is a Farnsworth–Hirsch fusor, a lab demo that can fuse hydrogen--releasing gamma rays but not net power, and is really just a fancy plasma globe. There is no such thing as fusion without radiation--period, but if you don't know science, you'll fall for anything.

Many in China are buying residential apartments not to live in, but to store relatives’ ashes. In this thought-provoking piece, Xinyi Wu explores how “bone ash apartments” intersect with housing policy, real estate, shifting beliefs, and urban life.
