Not actually a lizard. And I don't look like Mark Heap. As a literal representation, this profile has entirely failed so far. Let's try again.

Middle aged Scottish weirdo. I write, play drums and sometimes make other music.

There. I suppose that'll do.

Once every 20 years or so, the director-general of the BBC is forced to resign for being insufficiently rightwing. Alastair Milne in 1987. Greg Dyke in 2004. Tim Davie in 2025. The great irony is that the BBC was in all cases profoundly biased towards established power. But just not biased enough …

In fantasy and superhero films, good guys set aside their differences to defeat the villains. In real life, it's the villains who find it much easier to band together while the good guys fall out over minor details and form splinter groups that hate each other.

Heard this one from a while back, as another former pupil who seemed to really respect this teacher, was sharing it.

I think this is who Farage has always been, at best a smirking troll who loves to offend people as much as he can get away with, at worst a monster who has learned how to hide.
Reform say it is "disgusting and libellous" to suggest that Nigel Farage flirted with Hitler Youth when he was young.

Here's how a former teacher at his school remembers it

Part of me thinks this is some sinister bullshit, another part of me thinks he's done something idiotic like redesigned a hat they all have to wear now and wants to take a group photo.

The thing that is hard to communicate is that that specific flavor of “brainrotted 4chan slug with incoherent beliefs” is also downstream of the right wing politics factories dumping glowing nuclear sludge into the river

there’s a reason nihilism has risen and it wears Rush Limbaugh’s face

The fact that the thing we're calling artificial intelligence *can't do math* and yet we're jamming it into programs that successfully *have done math* for decades, then warning people against using the AI to do math, seems like an excellent summary of where we are.
Good thing no one uses Microsoft Excel for anything related to legal, regulatory or compliance business functions

Never heard Led Zeppelin at a music festival. Pretty good.
Wild scenes at the Denver music festival. Well done. Those palettes were blocking the sidewalk.

The words "Putin made him his bitch" appear nowhere in the Constitution so it's hard to see why liberals claim that yesterday's summit was a failure.

And don't tell yourself: "It's a story. The small details don't really matter." They do. I once read a historical novel set in Victorian London (written, I think, by an American author), in which the detective protagonist presses a 50-pence piece into a grimy urchin's hand. I think about this a lot.
