Breaking the seal on here bc I can’t stop thinking about this moment from the latest Love is Blind, which maybe accidentally captured something profound and essential about the zeitgeist? Feelings are hard!
I either picked the best or worst week to begin a 60-mile walk along the remote Australian coast with no cell service

I feel like a lot of democrats are engaged in a very big project to make us forget that the Biden administration and Harris 2024 campaign were mostly about fixing bridges
Speaking at a Texas Tribune Festival on Friday, former U.S. Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg criticized the Democratic Party for failing to reach everyday Americans, arguing that it “got sucked in” to a conversation about identity. #TribFest25
Pete Buttigieg critiques Democrats for focus on identity
The former U.S. transportation secretary said the Democratic Party should focus more on issues gripping the country, such as health care and housing affordability.

I asked a bunch of people in Melbourne today how they feel about the Epstein stuff and to a person they’re like “it reveals things about people in power getting away with anything and that affects all of us”

“Is this a hint”
“duh”
I mean obviously the whole thing is despicable but these emails are very funny
Jeffrey Epstein advised Steve Bannon that the lawyers representing Brett Kavanaugh in his confirmation hearing should accuse Christine Blasey Ford of being on medications that cause false memories or memory loss.

"There is a lot more." Rep. Garcia shares the DOJ is hoarding files from federal Epstein investigations. "Photographs, possibly videos, they have information we need to actually bring justice to the survivors and to implicate the wealthy and powerful men that abused and raped children and women."

It’s also reminds me how much time I spent circa 2017-19 with male colleagues and friends over drinks asking me if their behavior in this or that circumstance was “okay,” and/or rehashing my own trauma to try to shock them into understanding. It was and is exhausting
This week is reminding me of how hard it was to sustain confidence in media during the period when the initial Me Too stories first came out, hearing jokes at work and from fellow journalists that cast unsubstantiated doubt on women. Dark days

And to my fellow candidates, I challenge you to do the same:

Always thought they should expand the Star Wars universe into every genre. Workplace comedy at galactic bureaucracy. Hospital show with all the creatures. Law and Order: Star Wars.
ironically what makes star wars stuff best is when it is 'something else, but also star wars'

e.g. Andor, a British political thriller but also Star Wars
the Mandalorian, an episode-of-the-week Western but also Star Wars (when it was good)

One day after election day, Seattle Police Chief Shon Barnes has fired Brian Maxey, SPD's COO, and chief counsel Becca Boatright. Per inside sources, Harrell told Barnes to wait until today. These are two very longtime civilian employees who've been shut out by Barnes, who brought in his own team.

Once I had an amazing therapist I was complaining about 3am anxieties and she was like “lay it on me. Confess the worst things you’ve ever done. Let’s drag them out.” And not only were so many of them dumb but daylight is such a powerful disinfectant
did you know you can just like, forgive yourself? all that shit you punish yourself over and over for, you don’t have to do that you can set it down and walk away and breathe deep for the first time in decades

So, honest question, what do you do if you see a group of masked, unidentified men restraining someone and forcing them into a vehicle?

Seems like we should AT LEAST be calling the police, who should detain the masked men until they can verify their identities and authority.
This really hasn’t gotten enough attention this week.
