I live in a village of about 2,000. We are not "like Hobbits". Where are the extra 1,000 going to come from, where would they live?
Elon Musk, "These lovely small towns in England, Scotland and Ireland, they've been living their lives quietly. They're like hobbits"

"And so one day, 1,000 people show up in your village of 500 and start raping the kids"

"This has now happened, God knows how many times in Britain"

I've been getting back into the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series after many years, and the most relatable part is how everyday objects like doors and elevators have been imbued with artificial intelligence and it just makes them obnoxious and frustrating to use and everyone hates it.

My wife watches this and sorry but it is the biggest pile of shite
The show’s premise is faintly preposterous. But its popularity is real. “Demand” for the final season has been 116 times that of the average romance series, according to one data firm
People are going pretty mad for “The Summer I Turned Pretty”
The show, about a love triangle involving two brothers, is a global hit

Do you know what? I am grateful to private landlords because otherwise I would have *nowhere to live*. I can't get a mortgage due to debts (yes I was an idiot), and the deposit requirements, and I've ran out of years to sort it. What do people like this tosser expect me to do?

Ah yes, BlueSky, that kinder place where people definitely aren't sanctimonious arseholes of the highest order. Every time I post anything on here I regret it.

Not sure how many migrants are going to be landing at Birling Gap to be honest, but we can't get too far away from Brighton now can we.

Your lists of non political opinions are making me feel very uncouth. I simply do not have this many opinions.

If I was a car manufacturer I simply would not make it a requirement to have two separate sized Torx screwdrivers to replace a bastard headlight bulb

I suspect this is true. Having kids is rewarding overall but really, really hard work in terms of time, money and general stress. You have to give up a lot. And since it is optional, I can see why people don't want to.

I Don't Wanna Miss a Thing by Aerosmith

Cheesy and the upward inflection on the end of the lines does my head in
Always two. From the Bedingfields, male and female:
> These Words by Natasha
> If You're Not The One by Daniel

The two most unpleasant-voiced and trite singer-songwriters.
Fuck your favourite song. Tell me your least favourite song. The one that makes you die inside the moment you hear the first 3 seconds.

Follow-up studies: well, these were horrible and accomplished nothing

Public health: ah, well, nevertheless, we’ve got lots more proposals just like it!

Some nice stuff in here, but none of it changes the fact we have been in decline for some time. Everyone can see it.
All this stuff about Britain is broken, all is terrible, there is no recourse, society is falling apart, if there was a war nobody would go, etc is beginning to irritate me.
There are doubtlessly considerable problems. But I worry that the catastrophizing could turn into a self-fulfilling prophecy.
