The slop they turn out for kids movies these days are just terrible. It feels like if one's kids grow up with any form of story awareness it will be a miracle.

Yeah, as ex Hilux driver this was the peak of my driver experience. Still my favourite car by a long shot.
pickup trucks for the average person should not have been allowed to advance past this. if you need anything bigger, you should have to provide some kind of documentation showing you have the license and need for special heavy machinery, otherwise you get the 1990 toyota hilux

Man, traffic is getting rough these days. Spent an hour and a half to our offices this morning, it usually takes 40 min. And all because lane closures on the N3.

If you're into really big tires and you're looking for the ultimate do it all touring and commuting truck, then a @surlybikes.bsky.social Ogre like this one might be your happy place to go. Upgraded it with sturdy fenders, super bright dynamo lights and a solid rack.

Lots of folks captioning aurora photos like "for a few minutes we didn't think about politics"

guess I'm built different, every time I'm out trying to see night sky stuff I frequently think about how much light pollution is entirely preventable with just a tiny bit of regulation

Early Warning for severe weather event in South Africa in the coming days.

Some places in the forecast are showing +100mm in a 24hr period.

With the atmosphere holding more water extreme precipitation is becoming the norm these days.

You have to help another person. But it's not right to play God with masses of people. To be God you have to know what you're doing. And to do any good at all, just believing you're right and your motives are good isn't enough.

Imagine how fast global emissions could be falling if having an economy that centred human wellbeing rather than constant growth was allowed 🫠

(also a fair few of these countries have stagnant rather than falling emissions.....)

Went to visit eGodade battlefield of the Anglo-Ndebele War of 1893. Horrified & devastated to see how it has been thoroughly destroyed thanks to the activities of illegal miners & those quarrying for gravel. Over 2000 people died here & were buried on site so their last resting place is desecrated!

WHY.
A pretty bleak thing that GenAI is revealing is that a significant percentage of the population seems to have no interest in actually learning or doing anything. They want to ChatGPT their way out of hobbies, art making, everything... www.thecut.com/article/woul...

Every single person who argues that the early medieval period should be defined in a negative way has never read a single book on the actual period. Had OP done so he would realise what he is arguing for as "contrarian" is, in fact "academic consensus".
