In a quite fancy West End restaurant today and someone had carved - actually carved - the words "Fucking Hitler" on the wooden table. While it's good it was an ANTI-Hitler message, that ... really isn't something I want to see over lunch. Wondered whether to say but surely they must have noticed it?

Oh my god, how many massive bangs are enough! So sick of this endless fireworks racket. Kids can't sleep, dogs scared (thankfully mine now deaf), it's been hours nonstop, why is it legal to sell things this LOUD?!

Ah, how lovely. My boy is 15 and basically disabled now, I get it.
This piece by Melissa Harrison is simply gorgeous. My beloved dog Tilly also had pancreatitis in her last year, and taking care of her was privilege, not a chore. She'd spent her whole life taking care of me, after all. I still miss her with every breath. mzharrison.substack.com/p/loving-an-...

We @womenslibrary.bsky.social are so sad to hear of the death of Elspeth King, writer, activist, curator of the People's Palace who fought so hard to collect & preserve Glasgow's social and working class histories. Her book 'The Hidden History Of Glasgow's Women: The THENEW Factor' is so important.

My relative who has literally mentioned how much she dislikes Meghan Markle once a week for the past four years: "Oh, all this Andrew stuff is overkill, is there nothing else happening in the world that's newsworthy?"

I keep thinking that if Charles had, idk, died in a skiing accident in his 20s, we'd all be living with King Andrew today, listening to him being exalted all the time. Such a terrible, random system.

Why have I just watched this five times? Weirdly compelling.
AI sitcom accidentally a Lynchian fever dream. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and insane lament.

the reason slowed down pop music works so well in horror films is because we all remember the horror of hearing the full version of babylon zoo's 'spaceman' for the first time.

Do I really have the only kid in Britain who's not fussed about K Pop Demon Hunters or saying Six-Seven?
Or is the media just massively over-reporting trends again?

Akinator, the mind reading genie
Akinator can read your mind and tell you what character you are thinking of, as if by magic. Think of a real or fictional character, answer few questions, and Akinator will try to guess who it is. Wil...

The BBC are accidentally running the subtitles to Mrs Marple over the Mercury Prize, and it’s rather wonderful. A few of lines could plausibly have been written by Jarvis.

Bari Weiss introduced herself to CBS News staff today on the network's 9AM call, saying she wants to "win," which requires restoring trust to CBS. She also said she was excited for staff to get to know the Free Press, and ended her remarks by saying: "Let's do the fucking news."

What a lovely piece!
Recently discussed a student assessment with a colleague. On paper, it was terrible: confusing, ungrammatical, over-written yet under-explained.
And yet ... "It's got SOMETHING," we agreed. "It's not ... boring. It's bonkers, but alive."
AI would have definitely failed it.
