Instead of wallowing in despair over Trump possibly imploding the federal government, I'm choosing to rage over the anti-IUD/birth control discourse on the bad site.

Absolutely wild to me that Jimmy Carter's *grandson* giving a eulogy is nearly 50 years old. (All my grandparents were dead by the time I was 27 😐🤷‍♀️)

I wrote an essay about our bottomless thirst for diversion and how avoiding boredom is the engine of modern life. It’s based on the research I did for my book.

“It's amazing how pollution has dropped in #Paris in 15 years. @annehidalgo.bsky.social has filled the city with bike-lanes & not only has she reduced pollution by 40% but she’s also been re-elected.”

Trading car space for green space, bike space, kid space…trading pollution for people. Good trade.
Es alucinante cómo ha bajado la contaminación en París en 15 años. Anne Hidalgo lo ha llenado todo de carriles bici y no sólo ha reducido la contaminación en un 40%, sino que ha sido reelegida.

After years of talking to Trump supporters my view of them has become very simple: They want socialist, even sometimes progressive reforms but they want them from someone who makes those reforms feel powerful and masculine and they want to make sure the people they don't like don't benefit from them

Genuinely very funny that Trump got the entire American right to adore a song about gay dudes cruising at the YMCA

JUST IN: Texas has approved a controversial plan to allow the the Bible to be taught with gradeschool curriculum. The State Board of Education's Dem members + three Republicans would've been able to defeat it, had Gov. Greg Abbott not temporarily appointed a Republican to a vacant Dem seat.

Critics say the curriculum overemphasizes Christianity. Texas school districts don’t have to use it but will receive $60 per student if they do.

funny that the new metric for a social media site's success is if it produces healthy political discourse between "sides." by that measure, years of evidence suggests that twitter failed. it accelerated fracture, radicalized people into fringe politics, and became a tool for the reactionary right
Opinion - The problem with Bluesky: It won’t broaden our horizons: In the wake of Donald Trump’s election win, the social-media platform has enjoyed a surge of new users looking for an alternative to Elon Musk’s X. But will it be useful, if it just creates an echo chamber for the left?
