Something I wish got challenged more often in this “men in crisis” discourse is the blithe assumption (or sometimes outright assertion!) that everyone’s boss is a woman now. “Women now dominate white collar work and corporate management roles.” No they don’t. That just isn’t true.

Its entirely reasonable to hold the opinion that the BBC and news media in general should not edit clips together out of context AND to recognise and be concerned by the fact that no similar consequence could happen if the subject was any real threat to the establishment

We have to keep shoveling all money, labor, water, and the environment into this mulcher so it will one day attain sentience and solve climate change, the first of which is impossible and the latter is a problem we have known the cause of and solution to for over a hundred years
is it better for countries to invest in boring things like transport and energy infrastructure or should they invest all their money in useless chatbots that talk in reddit-voice on the vague and completely unsubstantiated hope that they'll be able to do something profitable one day

A shockingly well-developed plan to disrupt and destroy facilities. Right-wing terrorists are terrorists. From demos outside the Dáil with a guillotine, to terrorising library staff, to vigilantes on the streets beating people, to pipe bombs. It’s an escalation and FFG need to take it seriously.
Some of us have been crying out about a campaign of far-right terror for years.

Now we have this:

For starters - no Irish State/Gov agencies/politicians should be on Twitter. None. They could do this today and it would actually be more than just empty words.

The Government lurching to the right was 100% inevitable after the presidential election; this is how they deal with failure rather than any form of reflection.

But I'm fairly shocked at the speed and vigour with which they've done it, not letting the attempted murder of refugees get in their way

The Government is going to set up a system to make working asylum seekers pay for their accommodation, despite knowing it'll cost more to run the scheme than they'll make from it. Meanwhile, of course, it will incentivise people not to work, at a time when we are in desperate need of workers.
