Their excuse: taking action to reduce emissions will "destroy the economy".

The truth is completely the opposite, it will be GOOD for the economy, many experts have said this. More opposition parties need to be saying this too. #nzpol

Funny how they said they wanted to get central govt out of local govt, then once in power they turn around and do a local govt takeover. #bish #nzpol

...funny tho, i thought at first this was about the bish trying to roll luxon, lol #coc

@chrishipkins.bsky.social please tell us this isn't you, and that you'll meet the moment of unprecedented combo of inequality, public service degradation, housing and cost of living crisis. Speeches at the AGM painted the below picture

Good news about the tech sector! But some telling details: the top 200 tech companies invest more into R&D than the govt... Because this govt slashed R&D funding.

The tech sector sees huge opportunities in renewable energy. This govt doesn't. Maybe they should. #nzpol
Report into health of New Zealand’s tech sector

People say "NZ Labour won't be like UK Labour/Hipkins won't be like Starmer" except they always have been. In order of timeline:

1. Helping introduce neoliberalism (Lange, Blair)

2. Ideologically more traditionally social-democratic (Clark, Brown)

3. A far more progressive leader comes in (1)

Wow. This does follow a trend over the last couple years of Labour undermining the Greens. This article in particular points out that Little is really pretty right-wing, actually.

It's funny how a few years ago there was a lot of talk about how EVs would put a strain on the power grid - which was proven to be untrue, in fact they can help alleviate it by providing storage.

Turns out the very real and very large tech drain on the grid is AI. www.bloomberg.com/news/feature...

Solar’s price drop is astonishing: panels are now 98% cheaper than when I first analyzed them in 2004.

Today, building a fence with solar can be cheaper than using wood.

@chrishipkins.bsky.social solid policy, not bad. I expect it will help shift property investors into investing in business at least a little bit. I just do wish that Labour understood that you win the centre with messaging, better narrative, not with positioning #nzpol www.rnz.co.nz/news/politic...
Labour to campaign on narrow capital gains tax, no wealth tax
Labour has agreed to campaign on a tax covering just some property to help fund a limited number of free GP visits.

@chewienz.bsky.social thanks for the link. If we had a govt with a clue, we would be using "social profit" as a measure here. #nzpol www.eur.nl/en/news/rese...
Research shows that NS generates social profit: 1.33 billion euros
This is according to a new study by Professor Dirk Schoenmaker (Rotterdam School of Managemen) and Wander Marijnissen of strategic consultancy firm ftrprf.

*This* is our grid on renewable power

~$1.50 per MWh
98% renewable

Its only when we throw in fossil fuels it gets expensive

The energy cartel keep fossil fuels in the mix on purpose

This is a *political* problem and one we could solve easily

When you think about it, it's kind of funny how the best things we could *actually* do for roads and travel times in AoNZ is rebuild our rail network and massively increase funding for public transport, walking and cycling

And we didnt fix inflation?
