The most powerful words you can say right now to these fascist bastards is:

"No, make me."

They cannot actually be everywhere and enforce their fascist policies. They rely on fear to do the job of governing for them. By refusing to comply, you make their means of compliance ineffective.

lots of folks saying things like, "the government won't be able to revoke your passport for no reason, that's against the law!"

I help people fight unlawful government decisions for a living. please believe me when I say that the government routinely breaks the law and they mostly get away with it.

What happens if you subscribe to a block list but then you get added to that block list? Does it block you from yourself?

Tbh some days I’d block myself if it were possible

Just a reminder of some of the context around the TikTok ban: In 2020, Trump tried to ban it via executive order a couple months after K-pop fans used it to organize fake signups to Trump’s Tulsa rally, which led him to publicly overestimate how large the crowd size would be.

A reminder:

Donald Trump launched this whole TikTok ban as far back as August 2020 when he issued an Executive Order highlighting his concerns about TikTok specifically.

He then ordered ByteDance (TikTok’s parent co) to divest its interest in the operation of the app in the US.

Trump’s no hero.
JUST HITTING THE SCOTUS DOCKET:

In a per curiam opinion, SCOTUS rules that the TikTok ban does not violate the First Amendment.

I don't know who needs to know this, but Pro Publica has an online thing that will format a letter to your US health insurance company to demand the records behind a claim denial. (which the insurance is then legally required to provide in most cases)

Prosthetic limbs are usually custom made for one specific person. Repossessing a used prosthetic that only fits one specific person has no financial justification. It is just cruelty.

Shout out to my fellow neurodivergent parents and caregivers for surviving the holiday season so far. It can be an amazing, magical time of the year, but also incredibly stressful and overwhelming.

OH, GOOD.

More people calling out the recycled Suppressed Memory/Satanic Panic bullshit known as The Body Keeps the Score.

Let’s do this more. A lot. It’s a trash book that retraumatizes victims, victim blames, and valorizes violence against women and children.

And he’s a sexual harasser.
What the most famous book about trauma gets wrong
People kept telling me to read "The Body Keeps the Score." I was shocked at what it actually says.

Since I started tracking the stats, the Telegraph have published more than one article per day about trans people except in the month before and month after the election. But they followed those two lowest months up with their worst, almost hitting a 2-per-day average.

When people say "common sense" they really mean slavish thoughtlessness and conformity or maybe "perfunctory submission."

It’s funny to me that no one can just be conservative anymore, no one can just be Edmund Burke or George Will. It’s always been a current on the Right but post-Bush it’s a full blown pathology and every time someone comes out as Republican they have to let everyone know they are Actually A Rebel.

I decry gatekeeping in any scene, but there are still fucking bare-minimum standards that need to be met, and unless you’re a Johnny Ramone or Billy Zoom getting grandfathered in by circumstance, no, no you aren’t punk if you’re a republican.

I think a tonne of it comes down to a resistance to contextualizing neurodivergence (among other things) as something *experienced by* a person as opposed to something they’re *doing to* everyone around them.
