The fact that asymptomatic Covid cases can lead to Long Covid IMO probably leads to more people attributing illness to vaccine complications than what could actually occurring, when the underlying problem could be a Covid infection.

Excellent public health messaging from New York City!!

Be the happy peace sign waving emoji instead of the sick and sniffling emoji.

How can you do that?

Wear a mask! Ideally a respirator like an N95.

It’ll help keep you and your community safe.

The fucking irony of someone with “fix your hearts or die” in their bio making fun of the loss of a disabled elder to an infection after years of pleading for people to help keep her safe.

You know your hero David Lynch died alone because nobody cared to protect him from COVID, either?

Labour policy is being celebrated by Tommy Robinson.

That's it.

That's all you ever need to say to explain who Labour are.

I do not want to “Do my own research.” I want to pay trained accredited experts to do the research, trained accredited experts to report on findings, and trained accredited experts to make policy based on them.

I am busy af with my own job, I don’t need to do eight zillion more.

Abled folk imagine being disabled and unable to work like a day of annual leave, where they can do whatever they want.

In reality, it’s like a sick day, where you are unable to do anything you want, because your body is unable to function.

And not just one day, but every day.

Disability benefits here in the UK are less than most people believe.
They're harder to get than most people believe.
Fraud is lower than most people believe.
The evidence you need to get them is more than most people believe.

The Government and media rely on this collective ignorance.

Kaposi's sarcoma & TB are two of the more notorious examples of AIDS-defining illnesses, which indicate a weakened immune system due to HIV infection.

COVID can cause long-term, “invisible” until it’s not immune system damage. Please protect yourselves.
Data c/o @1goodtern.bsky.social

Kaposi sarcoma in adults <45!!

Hospital episodes of tuberculosis (TB) of lymph nodes in the thoracic cavity in 10-18 year-olds.

These are AIDS-defining conditions.

“There are no parallels between Covid and AIDS.”

I wish we did more investigative reporting about what's happening in the disability community. Vital benefits are being cut on the daily, and we so rarely hear about that in the mainstream news because everyone expects that it should be like this for disabled people, and that's a big problem.

I am the least severe of severe #MECFS. I’m housebound but I can still be out of bed for 30-60 minutes spread through the day. I can still socialize a bit.

I explained to my extended family that I know people who haven’t talked to anyone in years.

Some are tube-fed, 100% bedbound.

Their faces 😰

The Government is already saving £24 billion per year in unclaimed benefits, by having inaccessible systems that fail many of the most vulnerable.

Genuinely never realized why the pity response to disability is so uncomfortable, even frustrating, until I realized: it's because "ohhh how sad!" is about the listener.

"By telling me that, you've made ME sad."

It centers the listener, and even sounds accusative: you've burdened them. By existing

There’s a comment piece in The Times about sickness benefits mysteriously going up and no mention of Covid, long Covid, the effects of lockdown etc. Boosters help people stay healthy, but now they are only available to the very old or people who can afford them.
It’s dispiriting that this is what getting a COVID vaccination now looks like to this chronic asthmatic.

Every time you put more restrictions or processes to claim disability benefits, it only harms the people they claim to support.

It won't prevent the (tiny number of) people who will still find ways to circumvent the system.

It'll prevent disabled folk getting what they need.
