BREAKING: This is huge news, the EU's equivalent of the 🇺🇸Supreme Court's 2015 Obergefell v. Hodges ruling.

🇪🇺Court of Justice just ruled all 🇪🇺countries must recognise same-sex marriages granted in other member states.

This effectively legalises gay marriage across 🇪🇺

Something centre-right journalists absolutely love is the "enrages environmentalists" framing

It presents climate / enviro folks as irrational, salivating and constantly infuriated idiots, whereas 'centrist' pro-fossil politicians are Very Serious, level-headed Adults In The Room

6 months ago, hundreds of academics warned against appeasing the far right

we were proved 1,000% correct - it did strengthen them

now labour is doubling down with a stupid, cruel, & illiberal plan to deport legal refugees
Final Version:

225 (!) UK-based politics academics signed our open letter warning anti-immigrant rhetoric will only embolden the far-right

They think they're parking Labour's tanks on Reform's lawn, when they're actually parking Reform's tanks on Labour's.
It's difficult to see how supposedly intelligent people can be so stupid, unless they really want Reform to win

The only way these people think you can counter Reform is by emulating them.

Countering them with facts or a heartfelt defence of our humanitarian obligations has never been an option.
This is as bad as anything proposed by Reform.

Leaving refugees in permanent limbo and unable to build a new life in the UK would be a complete abdication of our humanitarian responsibilities

Shabana Mahmood is expected to say the era of permanent protection for refugees is over, in major changes to the UK's asylum and immigration system.

Why all the talk about leadership challenges misses the point that the biggest problem facing this Government is not just a lack of leadership but a lack of clear ideas about what a Labour Government is actually for

Until that changes, the question of who sits in No 10 will remain a hollow one.
Labour's Biggest Problem Is Not a Lack of Leadership but a Lack of Ideas
Until Keir Starmer's party decides what it really stands for, the question of who leads them will remain a hollow one, argues Adam Bienkov

This is stone-cold racism from Daniel Hannan, a man who was born in Peru, notorious home of the implacably murderous Sendero Luminoso guerrillas, to where he should clearly be immediately deported.
Spectator running a piece by Daniel Hannan which leans heavily into the inferred idea that you're not necessarily British if you come from a migrant background, even if you were born and brought up here.

Yes, this is correct. And the reason is because our capitalist classes have decided that it is not sufficiently profitable, so they're not going to do it.

We must understand this reality. Capital *cannot* be relied upon to address the climate crisis.
