I may be tired and a little hoarse, but as I said again and again on the Senate floor, this is a moment where we cannot afford to be silent, when we must speak up.

Sen. Cory Booker—a Black man—just BROKE segregationist Strom Thurmond's record for longest floor speech in US Senate history.

Thurmond spoke for 24 hours 18 minutes in opposition to civil rights.

Booker has now spoken for 24 hours and 19 minutes against Trump's abuses against Americans' rights.

In his 1957 filibuster, Strom Thurmond said "Negroes ... are not so well qualified to vote as are the white people.”

A Black senator just broke the record Thurmond set with that speech.

I’m heading to the Senate floor because Donald Trump and Elon Musk have shown a complete disregard for the rule of law, the Constitution, and the needs of the American people. You can tune in on CSPAN, YouTube, X, and Facebook.

Senator Cory Booker's stamina in speaking for 22 hours flows not only from his spirit but from all the American stories of pain & fear brought by the first few weeks of the Trump regime - no Republican could speak this long at this moment because they have nothing to say for themselves or for us.

WATCH THE MOMENT CORY BOOKER MADE HISTORY.

Booker has now broken the record as the longest single-person filibuster speech in the United States Senate.

The previous record was held by Strom Thurmond, who filibustered to prevent the passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1957.

I’ll never get over that all of this was avoidable and our kids could’ve had a better future had voters just made the obviously rational choice in November. It’s water under the bridge now. But what the fuck, people.

Remember:

It can be sad. It can be tragic. It can be disgusting and depressing and discouraging.

But it doesn’t have to mean this is who we are now. It’s what our country is doing right now and that’s not the same as who we are.

Who we are isn’t up to him.

The real conversation everyone should be having about social media is who controls the data. It shouldn't be a corporation that has ownership over your identity, words, ideas, voice, who you see or who you talk to. Data belongs to you, it is created by you and should be owned by only you.
