Unusual suspect pondering the NBA, technology in sports and media and the near-term fate of Western Democratic Capitalism.
Talk about weaponization. . .
It is hard to overstate how disgusting this is. That Trump would do it is no surprise. That an attorney general would comply to do a vindictive and targeted attack may also be no surprise given Pam Bondi, but it is disgraceful nonetheless

What would Trump do if he wanted the military to help him establish a dictatorship?
He’d order troops into U.S. cities.
He’d order strikes on foreign targets to show he could get the military to kill people without congressional OK.
He’d purge the military of top brass who might defend democracy.

NEW—US Department of Education sent out standard Out of Office language to employees on Wednesday in light of shutdown. Later yesterday, workers tell me they found someone had updated their auto-responses without consent to a new one blaming Democrats.

Trump ordered an invasion of an American city based on him confusing Fox News' disinformation for reality. The US President is not just uninformed & confused, but really loosing any grip on reality.
According to Oregon, Trump got the idea that Portland is on fire because Fox News illustrated a September 5 story on protests of ICE with video from the George Floyd riots in 2020.

Don't think I've ever felt this embarrassed to be an American. There's shame and anger too. But mostly embarrassment. We're the laughingstock of the developed world. And we should be.

@rbreich.bsky.social I emailed Hulu and told them I was cancelling.

And I told them why at your suggestion. (The Jimmy Kimmel affair).

I used to think boycotts don't work and while I can't say that it worked in this case it's certainly encouraging.

Resubscribing today to send positive feedback.

Sounds a lot like how things operate in a third world country. Isn't that one of the complaints that he makes about the U.S.?
Critical part of the President's new $100,000 charge for H1-B visas: The Administration can also offer a $100,000 discount to any person, company, or industry that it wants. Replacing rules with arbitrary discretion.

Want visas? You know who to call and who to flatter.

Trump's approval ratings are tanking. He's blowing up the economy. He hasn't done squat to help the working class. The Epstein scandal haunts him.

He is a weak and failing president with his back against the wall.

Keep up the pressure.

Trump inherited that great economy, destabilized it on purpose, and now it is cratering by his design

It is that simple.

Seriously, we need to form a Blue State federation with shared resources (economic, tech, health, information, legal) even with a shadow cabinet of sorts. Short of secession (if it comes to that), call it a republic-preserving democracy safety-net.
