In person company AGMs are under threat from proposed changes to company law. Here's @shareaction.bsky.social's latest blog on why AGMs matter and why losing them would be bad not just for shareholder rights but bad for wider society.
After another busy AGM season, we spoke to the wonderful people who generously gave their time to ask AGM questions with us in 2025.

Think the basic argument here is correct. We're in a state of national emergency and the government is unable to admit there's a national emergency, let alone describe it or how we can emerge from it. That situation can't last forever.

This is deeply worrying. Police breaking into a place of worship to arrest people having a meeting? Quakers have a proud heritage of peaceful protest. This is totally disproportionate and deeply chilling. What happened to freedom of assembly?
🚨 Outrage as 20 police officers break into Westminster Quaker Meeting House and arrest six. 🚨
This shocking violation of a place of worship is a direct result of crackdowns on protest and dissent - freedom of speech, assembly and democracy are at risk.🕊️

I think I preferred it when politicians dismissed the Internet as “not the real world.”

I think Thomas is right, though - while the average British voter is probably not that well up on what’s going on in the US, they don’t like Trump or Musk and they def don’t like “move fast and break things.”
I’m genuinely beginning to question whether Ministers staying on X is beginning to affect how they view what is actually happening in the US, because I fail to see how anyone can see the dismantling of the state in the US positively.

ShareAction's latest "Voting Matters" report is depressing reading. If you're someone who has investments and cares about how sustainable or ethical they are this report makes clear that you need to think not just about what you are invested in, but who is managing the investments on your behalf.
The world’s largest asset managers are failing to protect human rights, nature and climate

Just 4 out of 279 (1.4%) of the key shareholder proposals we analysed received majority support – a worrying new low
