Yorkshireman. Train Driver. Coffee

Mostly photos of trains I’ve driven and the railway I work on, especially the old bits that really should be in a museum. And other things

London and Labour should sue 🙄
November 15, 2025 at 2:33 PM
There is a unique irony in a bloke who makes a living by openly lying and generally pulling the wool over people’s eyes, suing an organising for “lying” about him.

Let him sue. He’ll lose. Then counter sue. He’ll lose again.

What a difference a day makes!

Old pinky’s gonna need a good scrub after this storm has done, and I could do with a North Sea Trawlerman’s waterproofs, never mind a train drivers uniform… 🌧️🌧️🌧️🌧️

Night Freight (Condor)

Terence Cuneo, 1960

A Class 28 ‘metrovick’ hauls Condor, a London to Glasgow express container train, the forerunner of today’s Freightliner services

And that’s what I’ll be doing tonight, driving the night freight…

Do trains feel unsafe?

I’ve used trains a lot over the past 30 years, thru work and as a passenger. I’ve never felt “unsafe”

Some people I’m wary of, yes. They make me more vigilant, but that’s not train specific. That’s just life

Finishing the week with a couple of night turns. I like working nights. Nobody around, the world to myself, and I’ll be going to bed just as you lot are getting up for work

That’ll do for me

We had a cobblers like this in the village I grew up in.

I was once tidying a drawer and found a repair ticket from 1976, uncollected. As a matter of interest, I took it back to him, to see if he still had the shoes.

He said they’d be ready on Thursday…

I remember 1976 being a little sunnier than this photo suggests, but at least there’s blue skies today. So far…

And on that note, I’m off to the seaside. If anyone needs me I’ll be in the club 🍻

A cheeky little night turn to finish the week. Well, I say little. It’s 10hrs 13mins, so is a fair old stretch really. Still, I’d rather do nights than do earlies…

My company for this evening will be 66550, and it’s very dark out here! ✨🌙
