I just listend to @pablo.show's podcast about Riley Gaines, and this strikes me as similar:

Repeating a story publicly over and over, refining it, adding to it, leaving details out until your narrative is low on accuracy but guaranteed to get you niche group membership and their claps and hugs
The decline of religion as a source of meaning in people's lives remains underrated as a factor shaping society. The need doesn't go away - they just seek it out elsewhere in (often false) health/wellness beliefs, (often highly polarized/conflictual) politics, etc. www.nytimes.com/2025/11/25/o...

Grok, show me the saddest man alive
If people don't hate you as much as you deserve, Grok can help you get hated the exact right amount in a much shorter time #efficiency
Everything about this might be the saddest thing I’ve ever seen

Appreciate @nationalobserver.com underlining the threat these lawsuits pose to our democracy:

“One way to help preserve an independent media is to protect them from vindictive US-style lawsuits… we must be free to report fairly without the threat of expensive lawsuits designed solely to shut us up”

Trump suggests Khashoggi had it coming: "You're mentioning someone that was extremely controversial. A lot of people didn't like that gentleman that you're talking about. Whether you like him or didn't like him, things happen. But he knew nothing about it. You don't have to embarrass our guest."

I am a high school English teacher and I'm thrilled that someone is going to adopt this handsome guy

but if there had been no takers I would have driven a truck to DC to get him and then hung him in my tiny classroom and changed my curricula to include only hammerhead-shark related literature
Are you located in the DC-Baltimore-Philadelphia-New York corridor?

Have you always wanted to have your very own 11 foot long papier-mâché hammerhead shark?

Now available for free!

Perfect for museums, community centers, or your living room!

oh god, of course every academic in this country has to use a VPN for their work because every university department in this country somehow runs itself off a shared drive folder called admin/ADMIN/humanities/CURRENT_humanities/history/HISTORY_ALL/admin
The British government admits it is now monitoring VPNs use by UK residents. Regulator Ofcom has contracted with an AI-powered surveillance service to detect the number of citizens using VPNs to evade the Online Safety Act.

The UK tech minister has said a VPN ban is on the table.
