Painted in 1886 after his honeymoon, Anders Zorn’s 'Summer Delight,' depicts his wife Emma waiting for her husband who is rowing the boat; this is a study of the finished work and shows an influence from the French Impressionists but with a distinctively Scandinavian palette.

Looking at the Olivia Nuzzi conversation on here just breaks my heart. There are so so many good writers out there who deserve the attention. My best friend is an incredible journalist & writer whose work has transformed policy at the state and local level. But I guess she’s no Olivia Nuzzi.

rather famously we are literally taught in school in some places, correctly, that one of the many reasons the civil rights era secured so many legislative wins is because pretty racist Northern whites were forced to confront the absolute depraved insanity of their Southern counterparts

Exactly. Don’t exactly want to dive into the Discourse too much but it’s wild how some people have been saying that racism in the South isn’t worse. Racism exists everywhere but it’s absolutely worse in the South!!
Yes white people in the South have a significantly different form of racism that runs deeper in their society and shapes their politics.

Amazing, no notes, I do not desire to learn anything else about this story, for it would only detract from the perfection on this headline.

a thread of propaganda from someone with "radio free" in his handle? nominative determinism wins again
My mistake has been trying to explain what "fascism" is to people who don't care what it is.

So I'm going to try something else. Let's do this as a practical thought exercise.

If America *were* fascist *today* - what would you have to do differently in your daily life? /1

Alice Wong taught us that disabled people don’t just leave memories behind—they leave infrastructure. Lineages of care. Methods of collectivity, survival. She named the connective tissue that holds our communities together, even across death, even across the losses that come too fast and too often.

Our beloved Alice Wong has joined the ancestors. It was one of the great honors of my life to call Alice my friend, co-author & co-conspirator. She was a true genius, a force of nature the likes of which the world has never seen before. I love you, Alice, and am equal parts grateful and devastated
