1/3🧵 #Europe

Key take-outs👇

#Russia has failed in 4 out 5 strategic objectives, and is now on a trajectory to lose the war in #Ukraine.

Interesting take 👇
I'm going to keep repeating this strategy until I'm either dead or this war has ended. Whichever comes first.

Western leaders (forget Trump) have the power to end Russia's war within months, even weeks, if they apply a shock to Russia's economy. Overnight. Sanctions and trade blocks on everything.

This is a phenomenon I personally observed in the halls of power. There are people in the "room where it happened" who have no business being there; no one knows how they got there, but they were there the last time so no one asks. Eventually they are considered insiders and are always there.
Curtis Yarvin reminds me of Jeffrey Epstein. Not because of the pedophilia. (I have no idea about Yarvin's sex life.) But because he's a third rate thinker who somehow casts a spell over very rich and powerful people who inexplicably hang on his every word. Some kind of Razputin effect?

Without a formal policy process, Trump can’t end the war in #Ukraine

As long as the handful of players within Trump’s administration keep operating on their own, there will be chaos and confusion surrounding any Ukraine peace plan.

This is the start of Thursday's daily🧵covering Ukraine's fight for its sovereignty + very existence

It's Day 1380 of the colonial war waged by Russia. Many are convinced we're close to a settlement, but how can you trust terrorists, particularly after breaking myriad promises?

For once South Africa climbing over the fence and standing on the morally right side in the Ukraine war.
The UN General Assembly has adopted a resolution calling on Russia to return all Ukrainian children unlawfully taken during the war. The vote was 91 in favor, 12 against, and 57 abstentions. Countries voting against include Russia, Belarus, Iran, Cuba. Among abstainers were China, India and Brazil.

Russian attacks on Ukraine never stop:

◾️Russia attacked Odesa with drones last night, injuring six people.
Because of the blast wave, two people became trapped in their apartments. Rescuers, together with police officers, freed them and handed them over to medics.

If you reward aggression once, you don’t end a war — you start the next one.

10 months of efforts to diplomatically end Russia's invasion of Ukraine have consistently failed because Russia refuses to compromise. There will be no diplomatic solution until allies make it clear Russia can't achieve its military objectives.

Confident of military success, Putin refuses compromise in Moscow talks
European officials, who were not included in the talks, said at a NATO meeting in Brussels that Russia appears to be inflexible in the negotiations.
