I'm going to keep repeating this strategy until I'm either dead or this war has ended. Whichever comes first.

Western leaders (forget Trump) have the power to end Russia's war within months, even weeks, if they apply a shock to Russia's economy. Overnight. Sanctions and trade blocks on everything.
Starmer says Greenland and Denmark must decide future of Greenland, not Trump (Guardian)

"Yes. Greenland and the Kingdom of Denmark are to decide the future of Greenland, and only Greenland and the Kingdom of Denmark."

That would be the deal breaker: US attacks fellow NATO member, annexes its territory. Article 5 invoked against a NATO member. US blocks it. Result? End of Article 5. End of NATO in its current format.

Can we come up with an alternative NATO minus the US? Yes, of course we can.

Start planning.
An attack on Greenland would trigger Article 5 of the NATO treaty requiring them to respond to US aggression.
Trump in a single gaggle on Air Force One just threatened:

-- a second strike against Venezuela
-- Cuba
-- Mexico
-- Colombia
-- Iran
-- Greenland (which in turn would be an attack on the EU and Denmark)

Ask Zelensky and the Ukrainian people if Europe should be burning its bridges with Trump at this exact moment.

Their answer tells you how Starmer should respond to the Venezuela crisis.

Sure, take #Greenland by force. Short-term ego boost, mid-term chaos: the US dollar and financial markets lose trust, US arms sales drop, NATO on thin ice. Genius, right?
Katie Miller, wife of White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller, posted an image of Greenland colored in the U.S. flag, captioned “Soon.” The provocative post has sparked speculation about renewed American interest in the island, part of the Council of Europe and NATO as part of Denmark.

UK will not make any assessment on whether the US action in Venezuela is lawful. If the issue is pushed to a vote at the UN Sec Council, UK will abstain

The UK gov is concerned that doing otherwise would risk jeopardizing relations with the US at a critical time.

In one weekend Trump has made a mockery of UK Grand Strategy & with it Britain’s defence policy.

Without an International Rules Based Order what does it now mean to defend UK global interests as a P5 member?

The UK can’t grow its economy, so it can’t build the hard power to defend its interests.

The US has loads of military installations in Europe. It likes to pretend this is for Europe’s protection, but this is only partly true. Ramstein, as mentioned here by the Greens’FP expert is a good example. If the US decides to attack Greenland, throwing out US mil installations should be discussed

#Greenland is not just some strategically well-placed lump of rock and ice in the Arctic. It has a huge amount of proven and unproven natural resources, both onshore and offshore, which are becoming more accessible as climate change alters Greenland's environment.

France (certainly not the UK) is not going to offer to cover #Greenland with a nuclear umbrella as insurance against US occupation and annexation.

The only course of action left for Denmark/EU, Canada, Japan would be reactive, after the fact: the application of sanctions against the United States.
If the US wanted to it could take #Greenland very easily. Even in the highly unlikely event that the Danish Armed Forces fought the US military, they would not prevail.

Also, in the real world of European politics, other EU members are incredibly unlikely to join the fight or go to war with the US.

Whenever the United States is attempting to topple a regime, the CIA puts around the same rumour: the regime leadership has a plan to escape to sanctuary.

Maybe he does have a plan. Maybe he doesn't. But it suits the US for the rumour to spread.
