Really important analysis by @benbgeiger.bsky.social - the claim that record numbers of people are on out-of-work benefits is false.

Are out-of-work benefit claims at a record high?
The official statistics are wildly misleading - I've now made some new estimates that show just how wrong they are

I think most people already knew this was the case but good to see there is now a report on it….
NEW: An Oxford report warns that misleading media coverage is shaping public debate on immigration and human rights.

The study finds the ECHR is frequently misreported in deportation cases, fueling misconceptions that erode trust in the legal system.

You've GOT to be kidding me!

The Conservatives - who oversaw every single thing on this list - are trying to claim that only the Conservatives would "stop the madness" - that they created...?

So incredulity aside, what about the list itself?

As usual The Bear cuts through the Brexit BS….
As usual, there’s a lot of panic about the UK-EU trade deal, so I’ve taken the time to write an FAQ.

It covers what the trade deal actually does (and doesn’t), why the outrage is mostly theatre, why the fish are still fine, and no - Ursula von der Leyen is not your supreme overlord.

No-one’s stolen our fish. No laws were imposed by Brussels. This is what happens when a grown-up government tries to fix the mess the last one left behind.

On Trump's "movie tariffs".

Interested in the views of US lawyers.

My plain-reading is that International Economic Emergency Powers Act (IEEPA) specifically excludes messing with movies from the broad authorities it gives the President. 👇

It’s time for UK/EU to move on from the US, we can only rely upon ourselves now
The US has pulled out of NATO training exercises in Europe, stressing that its focus has now moved to Asia.

Whatever the fine print says, America is no longer in NATO. It won’t come to signatories’ aid.

The sooner that’s grasped, the sooner everyone else can move forward with actual allies.
