when i was in college i started doing a lot of democratic party organizing around my small college town in a rural republican county. by my junior year i and another student were appointed to the county democratic committee and my senior year they asked me to run for town council
I really can't emphasize enough that if you care about local politics, all you gotta do is show up. Just a regular schmegular person showing up. Literally just show up consistently in person and within a remarkably short amount of time, you will have a shocking amount of influence.

i am so very sorry but marta can never retire, 95th minute in a playoff quarterfinal clinging to a 1 goal lead and she uses every ounce of energy she had left to sprint damn near the whole pitch and win a late penalty, then gives the spot kick to luana. i'm over here just being a puddle of emotions.
