Black-cheeked Lovebirds are a small endangered parrot from Zambia. It is mainly green and has a brown head, red beak, and white eyerings. Our pair sitting on a branch together. The bird on the right has their beak open “kissing” their partner.

Critically Endangered, #Axolotls once inhabited interconnected wetlands and lakes in the Mexican highlands. Spanish settlers drained the waterways destroying their habitat which is now Mexico City.

I had to wash out and repaint the scapulars and marginal coverts three times. Hugely relieved it worked out in the end. 🥲

I'll post the full piece when it will be available at auction next week. 🙏
