Just wrote my first song since over a year. Sneezed it out in under an hour.

Finally, I'm coming back to life.

every cop in America is so horny for this exact outcome

like every single one of us knows that money is getting converted directly from food into tanks, and they know we know it
You cut SNAP benefits and Medicaid? Crime is gonna SKYROCKET.

Well, food is about to get a lot more expensive, and I manage stress by info-dumping, so I'm gonna share some of the survival strategies I learned spending my first 30 years food-insecure:

First: Cooking in large quantities and freezing some for later is more cost-effective than cooking every day

Here's a fuller version of that Bertrand Russell quote that's been going around:

"The first step in a fascist movement is the combination under an energetic leader of a number of men who possess more than the average share of leisure, brutality, and stupidity..."

The corollary to "don't obey in advance" is "don't obey more than you have to" - do the minimum legally required, and make them fight you for everything else
Here's the thing about the Tuskegee Airmen history - there was nothing in the EO about it. Someone in the Air Force interpreted it that way -- which is far worse.

I am tired of people saying and believing this. Our lives are not a game of chess and these leaders aren’t making brilliant political maneuvers. Please stop the delusions. It’s embarrassing.
You realize this is a game of chess right?

Wasn't there just a bunch of pearl clutching over saying he made the Nazi salute. Him encouraging Nazi language/argument is actually worse. Before ppl @me, I grew up in Germany, this argument of not rehashing history was always a neo-Nazi staple.
Getting louder.

I just learned that Michael Jackson allegedly would get up and set down tracks whenever the thought came to him because he was afraid if he didn't do it asap the muse/God/etc would give it to Prince instead and if this concept is true I have some work to do.

The thing is “cancer research” is *incredibly* popular. Everyone knows people with cancer. This is slam dunk shit.
Heard from inside the National Cancer Institute, part of NIH — travel through April is canceled. Purchasing with government card is frozen. All public comms are off limits. Can’t even submit abstracts to future meetings. Can’t submit *manuscripts* for publication. All hiring activity frozen. Fuck.

rewatching FIGHT CLUB this week i was very struck by how a movie that is very plainly a critique of this vision of masculinity was taken up as a valorization of it
It's grim thinking about how many men and women in society have mental models of valorous male behavior that primarily consist of being abusive and violent.
one thing i’m stuck on is this idea that “masculine” energy means license to act like a chud in public, as opposed to more traditional notions of public masculinity, such as those that put a premium on the performance of integrity, honesty, honor and generosity.
