This is so so disturbing. Trump is now pardoning January 6th rioters for unrelated crimes, just to reward them for their violence to keep him in power.

The Republican Party is in the full time business of endorsing and incentivizing political violence. So scary.

Here’s something that’s really important for everyone to understand.

If we design our cities just for cars, they fail everyone, including drivers.

If we design our cities with many great CHOICES in how to get around, they work better for everyone, including drivers.

Spread the word.

This thread is a perfect illustration of why e-bikes are an absolutely mobility gamechanger for so many people.

(NB: We need to forever bury the idea that e-bikes are "cheating")
I was approached by a lady outside the gym today while parking my bike. She was likely in her 70s. She had such great questions about the bike and then proceeded to tell me about her ebike.

She told me that she rode over 600 miles on it last year and was so proud of herself. She was so happy.

A very important thread for Chicagoans, who are getting these texts & ads against progressive alders & the mayor's proposed budget
MORE ON PACs — It’s budget season in Chicago and the text messages are flowing.

It’s important to understand who is behind the political action committees reaching out to you.

Urban Center PAC = launched in 2024 by failed mayoral candidate Paul Vallas.

Who’s behind those texts slamming Mayor Johnson and some progressive alders for their ‘snap curfew’ vote? • The TRiiBE
A round of political text messages are circulating in Chicago after the mayor’s veto on a youth curfew ordinance. Experts say these campaigns are only going to increase from here.

Rule of thumb: if Roger Romanelli is leading a charge, do the opposite.

For over a decade he has been a disingenuous outside agitator advocating for undermining street safety and transit usage at every turn on the NW side while living in the western suburbs.

Bikes are good for business, but bikes and buses don't mix well. The uncompromised version will be safer for residents on foot and on bike. Bike and foot traffic will be great for local businesses.

I fail to see how referring to parents transporting their kids via ebike "annoyingly pleased with themselves" as helpful in any way.
November 13, 2025 at 4:43 PM
Many parents I know who ride with their kids care a lot about their kids having healthier experiences and not being so car-dependent.
Referring to parents on ebikes who travel w/ kids as smug feeds into criticisms that bike transpo is for elite urban snobs who spend big for the luxury of peddling past riff raff in cars. To be transformative, biking must be inviting to all. This is only achieved with infra that is inviting to all.
This week I wrote about the rise of the e-bike dad - this piece was originally going to run alongside the story I did in September about the bike boom in general, and we didn't have space in print, but here it is:

To remove licenses more than we do now, we need more alternative ways to get around. That means more transit, more facilities for walking and biking.

I think that we, as a society, should take away licenses MUCH more often than we do. It’s a very mild punishment, in the grand scheme of things.

What's the most non-Chicago looking place in Chicago you've visited (no street view please, let me enjoy the surprise of visiting)? For me it's got to be this section of Beverly that leads into a trail out to 87th Street.
