I saw these 2 old Philips radio in a store in Yogyakarta. These radios can receive AM and SW bands, but you need to install an antenna. The price for the lower one is IDR 10.5 millions. Interested?

Spontaneous artistic expressions about the killing of Affan Kurniawan by cops popping up on Indonesian social media. I use these as a barometer of public voice since these organic expressions are different from propaganda posts.

Two-day protests @ Indonesia’s Legislative House over rampant corruption, increased property tax in several districts, the reps’ exuberant salary & denigrading remarks. 150+ injured. Few critical conditions. One bike taxi driver dead ran by anti-riot cop’s car, he was only 21.

I am going to repost some skeets about the protests in Indonesia. So far one protestor has been killed by the police by running him over with a car.

Anyway, situation in Jakarta is 🔥

There had been riots in various locations since Monday and it continued even as we speak (it’s almost 10PM here). Heard rumours about a motorbike taxi driver being killed by army vehicle, and if that were true, then tomorrow is going to be 🔥🔥

The pics are not representative enough, but during my Paris visit last weekend I was gladly surprised to see many people riding bicycles. I saw several guided bike tours. The 2nd pic is from a tour called “Holland Bike Tours” (the bikes are Batavus) 🤣

I just learned that there is a Dutch political party that doesn’t allow women to hold political positions.

Really enjoyed rock climbing in Belgium the last weekend. It was years ago when we did it for the last time and I wondered why… then memories came. There was a pandemic and the borders were barricaded. We caught Covid. After the restrictions were lifted, it was difficult to start again.

With new bike I enjoy cycling longer distances. So now for the daily commute I biked to the central train station and pick the train from there, instead of going to the station close to my house.
En route there is a street where bicycles have the priority.

There's a conclave
In the vatican
We don't know who's the next pope
But it's probably a man
There's a conclave in the vatican
They've got the smoke all ready so they'll tell us when they can
They'll tell us
Who will speak to nations
Do the incantations
The transubstantiations

After a year of procrastinating, I finally decide to retire my city bike and get a new one. My current bike, left, is a Gazelle Sport Special from 1969 (said the bike shop) and I have been owning it for 15+ years. Bought it secondhand for €150. It’s a very good bike, but it’s rusty now.

A little while ago, my parents' cat Bridget went missing. As the weeks dragged on, they became extremely worried. My dad devised a way to distract himself: he began to paint Bridget's adventures, imagining her travelling through time and popping up in some of art and music's most iconic scenes.

Disclaimer: I didn’t make the dishes in the pictures.

I was very lucky to be invited by a friend to celebrate Eid yesterday, and she prepared many dishes.

L-R: pecel pitik (chicken curry, East Java style, fried tempe-tahu-salted fish, risoles and martabak madura, and part of the spread.

Spent last Saturday looking at the towers of the nuclear power plant of Huy, Belgium, while climbing on the Corphalie crag across the street.

It was 18 °C, unbelievably warm for the second week of March.

Carnaval in the Catholic part of The Netherlands is ended. But at Den Bosch Station the carnaval flags with the city colors are still up.

During carnaval, Den Bosch goes by its other name, Oeteldonk.

Sorry.
The reservation system is shut down, EMT personnel are gone, so don't get hurt or lost. No one can clean the bathrooms or cabins, so they'll be closed. Rangers are fired.
