Last weekend, with @svanmil.bsky.social I hiked the part 3 of Venn Trilogie path, starting at Eupen, rhe German-speaking part of Belgium. The snow was 10-20 cm thick, and up to 50 cm at several points.
It was a hard and very beautiful walk. The branches bent, powder under the shoes, the silence.

How the neighborhood looks like yesterday afternoon. The snow is even thicker at the moment. It is nice to see now, but I dread my commute tomorrow morning 😅

I saw these 2 old Philips radio in a store in Yogyakarta. These radios can receive AM and SW bands, but you need to install an antenna. The price for the lower one is IDR 10.5 millions. Interested?

My last visit to Paris was 11 years ago. Maybe my memory is hazy, but I feel that Paris is more calm and friendly compared to then. Whatever. I’m now a fan of Anna Hidalgo.

The pics are not representative enough, but during my Paris visit last weekend I was gladly surprised to see many people riding bicycles. I saw several guided bike tours. The 2nd pic is from a tour called “Holland Bike Tours” (the bikes are Batavus) 🤣

Really enjoyed rock climbing in Belgium the last weekend. It was years ago when we did it for the last time and I wondered why… then memories came. There was a pandemic and the borders were barricaded. We caught Covid. After the restrictions were lifted, it was difficult to start again.

With new bike I enjoy cycling longer distances. So now for the daily commute I biked to the central train station and pick the train from there, instead of going to the station close to my house.

After a year of procrastinating, I finally decide to retire my city bike and get a new one. My current bike, left, is a Gazelle Sport Special from 1969 (said the bike shop) and I have been owning it for 15+ years. Bought it secondhand for €150. It’s a very good bike, but it’s rusty now.

Spent last Saturday looking at the towers of the nuclear power plant of Huy, Belgium, while climbing on the Corphalie crag across the street.

Carnaval in the Catholic part of The Netherlands is ended. But at Den Bosch Station the carnaval flags with the city colors are still up.

A few days ago I made Sichuan-y noodle. This is inspired by the delicious noodle dish I had in a Sichuan restaurant in Amsterdam.
I used soba noodles and fake mince meat here. The chili sauce has garlic, spring onions, Lao Gan Ma chili oil, and roasted Sichuan pepper 🍜

It’s Christmas Eve, we have a croissant bauble up and @svanmil.bsky.social is frying potato fritters (Indonesian perkedel kentang). Tonight we’re going to out the gifts on the tree. I think I’m finally ready for Christmas.

My iphone reminds me of my first visit to Indonesia after the quarantine was lifted. I brought my parents to a city trip and we visited the wet market. Beautiful avocados, plants, and a lot of snacks. Freshly made tempe packed in banana leaves.

Supervised bike parking at the recently renovated train station Tilburg Centraal 🇳🇱. It’s free for the first 24 h if you have a train abonnement. There’s also a bike shop for reparations.
