I'm teaching a course at the Irish Writers' Centre this spring where we will start out working on basic ideas and try to move them forward to script stage, it was a lot of fun when we did it last year, very happy they have asked me back:

My favourite bit of the Lee "Scratch" Perry bio I used as my principal source for this Patreon bonus is just how cordially Perry and Chris Blackwell disagree about "Judgement In A Babylon", which has lyrics like "Chris Blackwell is a vampire" and "He give Bob Marley cancer".

Utterly surreal that a key part of the pre Budget narrative from the government hasn’t been ‘Russian planes keep buzzing the Essex coast, US support for NATO is looking shaky, and thanks to the Tories our army fits in Old Trafford - that’s why we need to raise taxes’.

There's an advert on his website for a 'Depot Supervisor' that pays £12.75 an hour for shift work.
If he wants to reduce welfare spending maybe he should pay staff enough that they don't need in-work benefits.

this is pretty good but it still does not touch upon my crackpot theory about MALLRATS, which is that it's structured like a shakespeare comedy www.theringer.com/2025/11/24/m...
“The Little Movie That Couldn’t”: ‘Mallrats’ Turns 30
In the fall of 1995, Kevin Smith’s second film was a box office humiliation. Now, it’s become an embarrassment of riches. We chat with Smith about the movie and how it forever altered his career.

Anyone wanting to find Ed Davey's response to the budget on the BBC website, you need to look under ENGLAND -> POLITICS -> PARLIAMENT -> BUDGET -> BEWARE OF THE LEOPARD -> and it's the third item on the page after two pieces about Reform.

It doesn’t stick it to The Man.

The Man does this too.

The Man is now likely to be a middle aged tech-zillionaire who grew up on filesharing culture, doesn’t understand creative work, and thinks that a digital pirate utopia is possible as long as nobody gets paid except him.

Pirate culture is great as long as the parasite doesn’t kill the host. Free-culture has gone way past that point now.

You can always get free food from your parents’ fridge, provided your folks are still earning a living to put all that food there. They can’t quit and just eat that free food too.

Some years ago I was sitting on a bus when I suddenly realised that everything in the universe had once been in one place. Like, really realised it. There's a proton on the other side of Laniakea that used to be in exactly the same place as every atom in my body. Comforting.

Robbie Gibb says he finds the idea there's been a coup at the BBC is "offensive". I doubt he finds it nearly as offensive as I find his efforts to interfere with editorial independence or hiring decisions, but sure.
