NYC to CNY (with a brief stop in NC) and making a new life.
Actually, what this also confirms is that SAG already did that strike and won protection for its members. (Initially, at least, about video games.)

We need to be proactive.
This quote is rich and verbatim confirms that Iger and Disney literally don’t see artists as creatives or creators.

It's International Anti-Corruption Day.

Some of Trump’s most blatant acts of corruption are well-known by now—the crypto coin; the pardons for friends and donors.

Less known are a series of corrupt policy moves that are raising costs for you and your family.

Some examples ⬇️

It's astounding to contemplate that for tens of millions of Americans, what was traumatic about the COVID-19 pandemic wasn't the millions of illnesses and deaths; it was that they were being told what to do.

I'm convinced that that's what this bullshit is about.

Not coincidentally this is a pretty good list of Most Important Companies to Unionize.
The Boston Globe identified the companies in Massachusetts that employ the most SNAP recipients. A key stat: "In Massachusetts, 74% of working-age recipients of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program are employed, half of them full-time."

The state universities, and the Land Grant ones.
Really important to stress that the Crown Jewels of the US higher education system were never the Ivies or elite SLACs (other countries have equivalents of these) but the well-funded, large, cheap, and excellently staffed public state university systems bringing high quality education to the masses.

That's the whole point of the cost of living crisis: if you have a full-time job, you shouldn't have to be constantly worried about the specter of homelessness.

And that's the whole crux of the "is the economy good or bad?" question: if the companies are doing well, then why aren't employees?

Because nothing says Freedom of Religion like raiding a church during Mass in Advent- or better yet, on Christmas!
"Agencies within the DHS, including ICE and CBP, intend to implement a comprehensive plan to target Spanish-speaking churches across the country during the upcoming holiday season between Thanksgiving, Nov. 27, and Christmas, Dec. 25."
Exclusive: Trump DHS Plans Immigration Raids on Churches Over Holidays

Just watched the interview Terry Gross did with @kenlburns.bsky.social about the new documentary The American Revolution premiering tonight. I'm paraphrasing, but one of the things he said was that another way of saying DEI is e pluribus unum.

I may put that on a sign for this week's protest.

In Ithaca, NY, several years ago, 3 Starbucks unionized. Over roughly the next year, all 3 were closed.

I haven't set foot in a Starbucks since...

(Ok, here that's not usually a problem, but when migraine hits I need a seat and coffee ASAP. I had to find options. I did.)
As of this morning, Starbucks workers across the country are officially ON STRIKE. And we're prepared for this to become the biggest and longest ULP strike in Starbucks history.

Say #NoContractNoCoffee with us: DON'T BUY STARBUCKS for the duration of our open-ended ULP strike! $SBUX

Two years ago we went to the shelter for a cat.

When we opened the front of his crate, this one climbed right out on to my shoulder. "My person!"

He's curled up against my leg right now.
