Yesterday I tried to put everything I knew about whistles—where to get them, where to get instruction sheets, how to distro—into one place so you can build off it for your own community's whistle needs: dansinker.com/posts/2025-1...

Twitter pays people based on engagement (views, retweets, comments, etc). It appears that many MAGA accounts are based abroad and they use AI technology to generate low-effort rage bait.

My guess is that this will get worse as AI tech improves. For instance, fake videos of minorities doing crime.

In all of this, let's not forget the agency of the individual troops pulling the trigger. They are committing murder and should be prosecuted.
"Trump and his top White House aides pushed for lethal strikes on Western Hemisphere drug traffickers almost as soon as they took office in January, and in the past 10 months have repeatedly steamrolled or sidestepped government lawyers who questioned whether the provocative policy was legal"
White House blew past legal concerns in deadly strikes on drug boats
The Trump administration sidestepped skeptical lawyers across national security agencies as it pursued a military campaign against alleged narcotraffickers, officials say.

DOGE was created for data theft and infrastructure dismantling and it wildly succeeded on both counts within the first few weeks of its existence. It will take a generation to rebuild what it destroyed and the breach of data is unprecedented.
Bye bye, “DOGE”.

It no longer exists as a “centralized entity”, according to the Office of Personnel Management.

Elon Musk donated $277 million to Trump so he could steal the federal government’s data, dismantle the nation’s infrastructure, and stop foreign aid from going to nonwhite people. It’s a quid pro quo breathtaking in scope, corruption, and damage, & completely unprecedented in American history.

Anyone who's ever read anything about history understands that the TRUE golden age of transportation ran from about 1870 to 1914; it was a time when it was possible to affordably (for most) cross continents by train & oceans by steamship, mostly without passports, and with SOME options for the poor.
Duffy: "Trump talks about the golden age of transportation. But the golden age in transportation truly begins with you ... People dress up like they're going to bed when they fly ... so we want to push people as we come into a really busy travel season: Help people out, be in a good mood, dress up"

Reading what people say about Twitter makes me realize that the vast majority online expend absolutely no effort on account hygiene. If they treated their bodies like they treat their social media accounts, they'd never bathe, brush their teeth, or change their clothes, and would eat only junk.

The biggest divide is not between “right” and “left." It’s between democracy and oligarchy. The billionaires who control our economy and democracy seek to divide us. They want us to turn on each other so we don't look up and see that they have all the wealth and power.

It's like magic. Last night I read a 1931 science fiction detective story by Erle Stanley Gardner (creator of Perry Mason) containing a concept I've *never seen before* in > half a century of reading & watching sci-fi. Yet it has resided on that paper, patiently awaiting my discovery, for 94 years.
Impossible how good reading is. You mean I just point my face at the paper for a bit and it does a whole update on my brain?

This archived Twitter thread from Feb 2020 feels especially relevant.

Women move through the world knowing that you can name a field of endeavor—any field of endeavor—and a few of the Great Men in it, & you'll find rapists. And that we are required to make some kind of peace with that knowledge.
A famous actor of remarkable skill died at a very ripe old age today. Beyond his art, he's known for taking a stand that helped end the terror of the McCarthy years, & for raping a 16 yo girl, events that happened just a few yrs apart. I'm purposely not using his name because

The irony here is painful.

Alice Wong wrote a column for Vogue called Disability Visibility. You can still find all her writing for Vogue under her author name.

But *Disability Visibility* - also the name of the advocacy group she launched - has been erased.

Exactly how disabled people often are.
The new owners of Teen Vogue have already erased her column.

We really need to stop allowing the fascists to dictate how we talk. They've openly said that even criticizing them is criminal. Anyone who isn't them is a "criminal" in their eyes. They don't believe in due process.

Literally no one deserves to be kidnapped off the street and disappeared
This isn't it. Embracing the police-state rhetoric of people with criminal records as "the worst of the worst," even if only to show the Trump regime's hypocrisy, is not helpful and ultimately abets fascism and a white-supremacist government. One in every three US adults has a criminal record.
