Rewilding:

One of the best ways we can secure ecosystems and the peoples depending on them. As the planet warms projects like this are increasingly critical.

Some of us biked an hour+ to work today. When asked, we unanimously reported feeling more energetic and happy.

It's not just for the Earth. It's for yourself. For your family and community. Doing it again tomorrow just gets easier.
You don’t have to be perfect. Today, we ask you to participate in one action that moves us toward a more sustainable future. Then do it again tomorrow. And the day after that! 🌎 Need some ideas? We have an Earth Day guide to get you started: preserve.nature.org/page/168013/...

Great campaign success by ROBIN WOOD and campaigners in Italy, getting Porsche to wtihdraw a terrible proposal to destroy an ancient oak forest and habitat for rare species for testing racing cars!

We sued the government for failing to adequately consider the impact this massive oil sale would have on the critically endangered Gulf of Mexico Rice's whale and on climate change. The court ruled in our favor.

"There is no room for delays, and we really need to get started now. What we want from ETS2 is to push for permanent change," said Julie Kjestrup, Efficient Buildings Europe. "We’ve agreed to be climate neutral by 2050. We’re not discussing whether to do that; we are discussing how to get there."

National Environmental Protections work. If we don't want to experience acid rain again we must keep them.

From the EPA, "wet sulfate deposition decreased, LTM data show an 81% improvement in the number of monitored streams and lakes."

Build riverine and flood protections with the ecosystem in mind.

Working with the animals in an ecosystem always wins over relocating them. They always come back.

We're happy to see the Stone-curlew's protection measures succeeding.

Keep going towards net-zero, it'll matter for all species.
🌿Huge win for nature in the UK!

Thanks to our UK Partner @rspb.bsky.social, the Stone-curlew, once on the brink of disappearing, is making an incredible comeback. 💚

Scientists do not get paid for getting quoted in the newspaper about science.

People know this, right?

Last year I was quoted in about 30 media articles, and I received a grand total of $0 for this.

We do it because it’s important, not because we get paid.

Pairing solar with ecosystem regeneration
Interesting:

Researchers in China studied a large solar farm installed in Qinghai Province desert.

The found that the consistent shade of the panels lowered temps, reduced evaporation & dramatically increased the "ecological health" of the deployment area.

As federal protections are attacked, state action is more important than ever.

New York's climate law proves that we don't have to wait for federal action to tackle the climate crisis. More states must rise to the challenge.

Look Ireland, if we really care about homelessness, it can be done!

but where would we find the apartments? hmmm… boot out AirBnB maybe?
“In Finland, the number of homeless people has fallen sharply. Those affected receive a small apartment & counselling with no preconditions. 4 out of 5 people affected make their way back into a stable life. And all this is CHEAPER than accepting homelessness.”

Yet, #RuralWomen earn nearly 20% less than men and have reduced access to land, credit, technology and information.

Help your community members, always carry your passports, & stay safe everyone. 🫂🫂🫂

Don't accuse anyone of a crime, because ICE does not need for them to be charged in order to take them.

We have to work together to design a better world which doesn't allow mass killing to be legal so easily.
Death penalty is now legal for immigrants deemed "illegal". And the president is encouraging the attorney general to back states wanting to enact that death penalty

But remember "illegal immigrants" can be anyone accused of shop lifting and who didn't have their passport on them. No trial necessary

Walkable streets help small, local shops thrive. In an era of billionaires we should prioritize the people.

Happier cities. Healthier cities.
Don’t listen to those who oppose replacing car parks with pedestrian spaces - outdoor dining thrives even on cold, wet, dark December nights. People will always choose vibrant, walkable places over car parks
