Los Angeles is trying to avoid HLA by claiming that it is “restriping without making other improvements” when, in fact, it’s making many other changes across multiple projects.

This behavior must stop.

not an exaggeration to say that one of the main themes of the Bible - both testaments - is that what you say about God doesn't matter if your heart isn't right.

not the main issue here but i'd really appreciate it if democratic politicians spoke out in support of big-city life and culture with the same energy and reverence that all politicians have for small towns

These are all terrible moves for the environment - but California still has a tool in its back pocket. We can fully fund the State Rail Plan, make electric rail a real alternative to cars, and reduce vehicle miles traveled and thus car emissions, regardless of what MAGA says.

Glad to see Newsom putting money where his mouth is and committing to #FundHighSpeedRail. While we'd love to see more details, guaranteed funding from Cap and Trade will allow CA High Speed Rail to access private financing and build more, faster.
“Cap and invest” proposal from Gov. Newsom is out. Extension through 2045, proceeds to the general fund for wildfire cost reimbursement, $1B for high speed rail annually, plus utility bill credits:

Newsom to propose extending a landmark California climate law
His budget proposal would extend the state's carbon trading program through 2045 and reserve at least $1 billion per year for high-speed rail.

Definition of insanity: doing the same thing over and over, and expecting different results.
LA spends more on payouts to people hurt on our streets than making them safer.

Example: Vista Del Mar, 30 people killed since 2003 and millions paid out to victims; no plans by the city to change anything.

This year's budget is poised to make it worse:

LA spends more on legal payouts to people hurt on our streets than making them safer
In 2015, a woman was killed crossing Vista Del Mar, and the City paid out $9.5M in a wrongful death case.
