Me, once again asking for an outlet to pay a Black historian to write about zombiefication from a Black perspective.

When zombies were scary because it was slaves telling stories about how you could be forced to work FOREVER. And not even death could save you.

Before you start typing about how there are more important things: the Met Gala funds the costume collection of the Met. Textile preservation/restoration is important work that needs funding - you may not think of it as such but textiles are an important part of history that often goes unpreserved

I've used many of these. Even paid for some of them and I will stand by them.
I was going to post this article this weekend but Duolingo's recent doubling down on replacing humans with generative AI pushed me to get it out sooner.

Here's a list of amazing apps for learning Japanese that DON'T use generative AI!

You might not be aware, but publishers don't allow libraries to buy permanent copies of ebooks/audiobooks. They are rented to them at a much higher rate than an individual can buy them. And they're limited to a low number of rentals before being charged again.

Are the people telling you to post your activism and civil disobedience going to pay your bail? Pay your rent or mortgage and groceries whilst you're incarcerated awaiting trial? Going to get you your job back if you're fired?

No?

Then be smart about it. Don't post illegal shit online.
