1) pitchbot is my favorite and 2) as a midwesterner I can verify I heard/had this conversation over thanksgiving (we still don't know what they were doing and we don't want to)
In this Indiana diner, everyone has three questions: How's the breaded tenderloin? Is the quarry hiring? And just what is it that Bobby Kennedy Jr. and Olivia Nuzzi were doing?

What are the odds he thinks it's some sort of Ender's Game situation, like he thinks it's a high tech CoD game and he's still in training or whatever, I feel like he's non-sober and stupid enough for that.
HegSSeth gave the order to “kill everybody” to his commanders because he is unhinged and undisciplined and is running the most powerful military in the world like he’s playing Call of Duty from his mom’s basement.

I just keep thinking of the Monroe Doctrine tbh. And the whole "Manifest Destiny" garbage.
The worst part about the boat strikes - regardless of who ordered what and besides the ultimate tragedy of lives lost - is they’re forever a stain on the professionalism and dignity of the United States military.

They’re an insult to every American who ever sacrificed to do the right thing.

Since AI's whole schtick is recognizing patterns, particularly in spoken/written language, I think this might be a decent use case, within reason. Until it starts hallucinating and making predictions based on that.
In a pilot study, A.I.was able to accurately predict the type of coda, the whale’s vocal clan and the individual whale with over 90% accuracy.
... it might be possible to use A.I. to find patterns within the vocal data and eventually translate what whales were saying to one another.

Truly I need to stop liking these because the algorithm can't detect satire and the content I am being fed is a big ole hoo boy. But they're so good. Pitchbot is a light in the dark.

The fact that the CDC is not a reputable source right now. Just. I need to go find the nearest abyss to scream into and hopefully awaken an Eldritch horror that will consume me body and soul because that would be better than this reality.
One more post re: Vaccines and Autism-gate.

CDC's webpages are a mixed bag. Some are maintained by programs -- people who follow science and evidence are updating.

But political cronies seem able to alter them without approvals.

So: check them against other reputable sources.

Literal cherry picking. ONE GUY funded by a group of lawyers trying to bring a class action lawsuit against vaccine makers in 1996 did bad science and now it has consequences almost 30 years later. He lost his license, paper retracted, yet here we are.
Vaccines DO NOT cause autism - there is extensive research showing this. Resurrecting old, discredited, fraudulent work is shameful.

Vaccine-preventable illnesses are serious - this is going to cause real harms.

This is dangerous & disappointing.

This is censorship, eugenics, fascism, racism, and a lot of other isms. And on top of that it's dumb and stupid.
NEW: Officials at the Indian Health Service have deemed terms like “immunizations” and “vaccines” risky “buzzwords” that require approval to be used in social media posts, pamphlets and presentations for patients.

I am actually looking at these guys like potential threats. My pupils dilating is my fight or flight response. Freeze and fawn are not options, but kicking or running and shouting are.
Oh right right right right. That's why conservative dating apps fail and dudes like him lie about being "moderate".

Trust me, nobody with their headphones in at the grocery store wants to be approached and asked out. It happened to me, it was creepy, he waited until we were in the back of the store and nobody else was close by. Like leave us alone we just want to get batteries and cereal.
This is the type of dude that will 100% tap you on your shoulders and make the motion to take off your headphones just to say "Hey".

Literally had to correct a HISTORIAN on LinkedIn for not recognizing satire from the New Yorker of all places. Like that's their entire schtick.
I think "Recognizing Satire" should join Freshman Composition as a universal course requirement for graduation.

I am a STEM person, I know a lot about biology and public health but don't ask me about law or art symbolism or even engineering or math! Sure I'm great for trivia night but I am far from knowing everything. Something about Jack of all trades, master of none.
the amount of people who will say something like "they went to tech so you know they're smart"

math science engineering is a certain kind of skill that some ppl study but lolll plz do not defer to stem folks on all the things, just on stem things

Very King Henry VIII of them. The more I think about it, the more I see the venn diagram as one circle. That's a bit terrifying.
If your government thinks the Pope “doesn’t know what he’s talking about” when he defends migrants’ dignity, the world should see the warning sign. The US is no longer leading on human rights. It’s suppressing them.

One time in college a hackathon "donated" a bunch of stale bagels to a campus apartment complex on the day of a big sporting event and then when the campus police showed up to shut down the parties someone started throwing bagels at them. If I had a nickel...
Think about how mad you'd have to be to throw a delicious sandwich. Has never even crossed my mind for a minute. Clearly it was necessary in the moment.

Going to throw out a wacky idea: a leader people choose via democratic process and that leader presides for a set term before we pick a new one.
The left says "no kings" while the right says that Donald Trump is king. The truth might be somewhere in the middle.

The artisanal toast pop up in Fort Greene is sending me, the most accurate and scathing satire ever written about NYT.
Many on the left say that this weekend's No Kings protests represent the kind of forceful resistance to Trumpism that the country needs right now. But Zadie Zandonella-Stannard, who runs an artisanal toast pop-up in Fort Greene, says that such an approach leaves her deeply uneasy.

Disgusting. And his reasoning is literally so he can control his wife/women in his life. This man should not be allowed anywhere near a school.
So this teacher Charles McCant casually tries to indoctrinate the kids at LoveJoy High School to believe women shouldn't be educated. And turns out this isn't the first time this social studies teacher has been saying this.
